We are helping a retired single woman who has limited means to maintain a large garden. She recently had a hip operation and is unable to do any gardening whilst that slowly heals. She has been left with a large garden since her husband passed away, which is rapidly becoming overgrown with weeds and brambles. We will be clearing weeds and brambles, cutting back shrubs and the hedge, and mowing her lawn, but need a skip to help with this.
L is single mum to 3 teenage children & has been living in temporary accommodation for over a year. The family were evicted from their previous home due to being unable to pay the rent and accruing debt. The bailiffs took all of their possessions so they have nothing for their new home. L is currently unable to work due to poor mental health from the stress of her situation & is dependent on basic benefits but she is desperate for a washing machine as she cannot afford launderette services.
This vulnerable lady has one of her children in a 'child in need plan'. They have managed to secure a permanent home and mum is happy with this new start and for being able to provide her children with a comfortable and stable home. With your support we have provided them with a table and chairs, and a sofa allowing them to spend time together in one room. We would now like to provide a large wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage of their clothes.
J is currently homeless due to relationship breakdown. She suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and asthma. She's been placed in emergency housing (B&B) by the local authority which is costing £150 per week but is only receiving £75 towards this. J is very vulnerable, mentally and financially. We are applying for funding towards the cost of the B&B to keep her safely housed until the council find her a permanent home in the coming weeks. £200 will help towards four weeks accommodation keeping her off the streets.
G is a single man who is recovering from cancer and has post traumatic stress disorder. He was poisoned three years ago and has had to move from London because of this. After sofa surfing he has recently been rehoused. He is trying to furnish the house but as he is only in receipt of Universal Credit this does not cover the cost of anything other than essentials. We are requesting support to buy a sofa, are you able to help make this house a home?
