We are helping a retired single woman who has limited means to maintain a large garden. She recently had a hip operation and is unable to do any gardening whilst that slowly heals. She has been left with a large garden since her husband passed away, which is rapidly becoming overgrown with weeds and brambles. We will be clearing weeds and brambles, cutting back shrubs and the hedge, and mowing her lawn, but need a skip to help with this.
My client is struggling with health issues that prevent him from being able to work. Despite this, he has been turned down for disability benefits many times! He has been struggling to get by on Universal Credit alone and has amassed a few debts. My client is rationing his food and energy, to the point that he will not eat for a week at a time and doesn't even watch television anymore to save power. We are assisting with his debt and a new Personal Independence Payment claim, but it takes months. Please can you help with a voucher for food, toiletries and clothing please?
J is between jobs, having been signed off from his current job, due to stress, anxiety and depression. He is looking for new work, but is not having much success. He is also homeless and currently living in a van on a friend's premises. J has no income and is waiting for benefits to start, but there is a four week wait! In the meantime he has no money for food or fuel for his camping stove, and it is getting very cold. Please could you help him with a voucher he can use for food and some warm clothing?
I met S at our local drop in centre when he came to see us at Gateway M40, as he did not know where else to turn. He has always been self employed, but can only manage around three hours a day due to severe arthritis. S is fifty nine and a very proud man who felt very ashamed asking for help. He had no food in the house and was sitting in the dark as he could not afford to top his electric meter up. We have supported with disability benefits, but this could take time to be processed. Thank you!
Our client is sleeping on a mattress on the floor as his bed frame is broken, and this is causing S a lot of pain as he is suffering from very bad arthritis. When he wakes up, it is taking him a lot of time to get out of bed as he is very stiff. Having a higher bed will make it easier for him to get up in the mornings. S is self-employed, but can only manage a few hours a day due to the pain he is in. The wages he gets just about cover his rent and he has little left for a bed, mattress and bedding. Please can you help?
J, a new, single mum with a tiny premature baby, has been homeless and sofa surfing for a couple of years, but is just moving into a social housing flat which is completely unfurnished. J, who has some support from the father of the baby, has managed to buy essentials for the flat, but desperately needs a cooker. Mum is dependent on benefits as she is unable to work, due to anxiety and depression, and complex trauma experiences. J has no support from or contact with her family, and has spent any savings on moving.
