St. Lawrence, York

The parishes of St. Lawrence & St. Hilda lie to the east of York city walls, to the north of the university campus area. They include some UPA housing, especially on the Tang Hall estate. Thousands of students live in the parishes. The James Street industrial area and travellers\' site are within the parishes. On a typical Sunday about 130 different people attend worship: mostly students and pensioners, with very few people who are in work. The church communities are cheerful, resilient, and growing gradually closer together.
