    Stacey a young mum living on benefit, in a flat with her 9 month old baby son needs a replacement fridge freezer. The door seals on current one are perished. Due to this, the freezer defrosts itself and frozen food is often lost. The fridge temp control is not working correctly for the same reason and food items are often wasted.     From South Norwood - 39 years old

    Tina came to UK from Liberia in 2004. She is awaiting the Home Office decision on her application to remain in the country, and has no means of support until her case is determined. She is currently staying at a friend's house, and is in desperate need of support for the basic essentials of life.

  • £100 needed for food, clothing, and travel

    From Peckham - 25 years old

    Mr. Housseini came to UK in Jan 2003 from Afghanistan. In pursuing his application for asylum he has spent a month in detention, but has now received bail. However he no longer receives any financial support, is sleeping rough most nights, and is suffering mental ill-health due to his situation. He desperately needs help for warm clothing and travel money to enable him to get to the Day Centres where he can obtain some food, advice, socialise and find support networks.

  • £95 needed for school uniform and PE kit for daughter

    From Scarborough - 36 years old

    Daughter gets picked on for having old, ill fitting uniform and is constantly in trouble for not having correct PE kit. Medical problem means that clothing has to be washed regularly. Mum works hard t support family and needs help please.

    Nicole lives alone in 1 bed flat with no kitchen equipment or cooking facilities. She was on Jobseekers but is about to start work - but is also trying to pay off debts

    A single mother struggling with the aftermath of mental health problems and loss of benefits in need of help, particularly for fuel and phone bills, while waiting for benefit entitlement to be reassessed.

    Anne-Marie has two children aged 5 and 3, both have autism. Having moved to UK she has no recourse to public funds. She is living in one room on the top floor of a multi-occupation house. Anne-Marie and her children are in a very vulnerable position and currently have no other means of support.

    Loren is a single mum looking after 3 small boys of 10,6 & 4. She is in desperate need of a cooker as her current one has broken and is unable to be fixed due to age. She's unable to give her boys 'proper' cooked hot meals at this time, which is causing distress. Loren is currently on benefits and unable to work as she is suffering from endometriosis and a bowel condition for which she is taking several medications.

    From Bedford - 24 years old

    Doran was forced to move into a hostel because of his mother's imprisonment and moved into a flat just over a year ago. He has no father and only relatives -his mother and his nan are not in a financial position to help him and so has had to set up home on his own. He has not been able to afford a bed and has been sleeping on the floor for a year - he is on job seekers allowance and has debts with gas, electric and water as a result of not being able to make his jobseekers meet all his costs

  • £100 needed for cooker and washing machine

    From Haverhill - 56 years old

    Recently returned from Canada after marriage breakup through abusive relationship, Donna is ill with chronic depression and extreme weightloss. She desperately needs a cooker & washing machine to enable her to look after the needs of both herself & 14 yr old son who has AHD. She is currently unable to work due to illness. She has so far received help with items of furniture and food from Haverhill Foodbank and Furniturebank, but is struggling to settle without income whilst awaiting benefits.

    From YORK - 31 years old

    Jo is waiting for her benefits to be sorted having finished maternity benefit she now has to claim Income Support for her and her 7 month old baby. Her last payment of MB was 24th December and IS not yet sorted so needs to pay for her rent and food.

    Sue has recently escaped from an abusive husband after some 20 years of marriage. She needs help to set up a new home, partly because her bank account has also been hacked.

  • £100 needed for paying for gas cooker to be fitted

    From YORK - 20 years old

    Shannon is currently unemployed so is surviving on young persons Job Seekeers Allowance (approx £80 fortnight) to cover food heating, water etc. She has a gas cooker but cannot afford to have it fitted so only has a microwave to cook with.

  • £100 needed for secondhand cooker

    From Haverhill - 30 years old

    Ark has been in the UK for 18 months and his wife and 2 young children arrived more recently in June. Ark is working hard to build a life here but finds it a struggle to make ends meet. They came to England to improve their quality of life and have been living in a single room until recently when they moved in to temporary accommodation but with very little furniture. The local Furniture Bank has been able to provide a table & chairs and bedroom furniture but the family badly need a cooker.

  • £100 needed for overcoming cash-flow difficulties due to weather

    From HULL - 39 years old

    Alan is a self-employed window cleaner and is experiencing less work because of the weather conditions and so has severe cash flow problems. He is also long awaiting some supplementaty benefits that he is entitled to. He is struggling to pay his bills. He has joined the Credit Union to try to build up some savings and so avoid this situation in the future.

  • £100 needed for help with food and fuel bills

    From York - 29 years old

    A young family with 3 small children struggling to cope. The expense of their car breaking down has put them in debt and they are struggling to meet day to day needs for electric, coal and food costs. Also, their phone has been cut off and they cannot afford mobile top up.

  • £100 needed for travelling expenses to find work

    From Wilberfoss - 41 years old

    Has been in receipt of Jobseeker's Allowance for over a year but travelling to job interviews throughout Yorkshire on a regular basis. Over £200 spent in train fairs in past 6 weeks for interviews but only a third of this has been refunded.

  • £35 needed for delivery of beds from charity

    From Scarborough - 36 years old

    A single mum with two children only has broken beds for her children and desperately needs new beds for them. A charity can provide the beds but a charge is made for delivery which she is unable to pay for. £35.00 would enable the children to have new beds with good mattresses.
