About 18 months ago the main part of my oven stopped working. I was told it would be cheaper to get a new one but as my husband had just left me and was not paying any contribution for the upkeep of his children I couldn't afford it. So I have been managing with the little top oven and rings. Unfortunately, the rings have now stopped working so I really do need a new one as I have two hungry boys to cater for.

The applicant is unemployed at the moment but is hoping to do a course leading to employment. To do the work on the course (and also to keep herself occupied whilst unemployed) to she needs a sewing machine at home. However, she is on Jobseekers allowance and cannot afford this.

This lady is a single mother of 3 who has struggled for years trying to provide for her children the best way she can. She has worked on and off but is currently unemployed. After paying her bills, buying food and school expenses for her older children there is very little left for extras. Her 3yr old daughter desperately needs a new bedroom carpet as the one she has is threadbare and as she suffers from hyper-mobility she frequently falls, a nice soft carpet would prevent her been hurt.

After the death of her daughter through cancer this woman took on care of two grandchildren. Her older grandchild wanted to continue at college and she has tried to support him. She did not realise that she was not entitled to certain benefits because of his age and the DWP now want repayment. She is now working with CAB to sort out her debts and they recommended a Debt Relief Order to give her a new start.

This lady and her teenage son have recently moved due to family problems. The son is his mum's full time carer. They are struggling financially while trying to furnish their new home as well as paying utility bills. They have been trying to sort things out themselves but it has become too much for them. Although they need quite a few items they are desperate for a cooker so that they will be able to eat proper hot meals.

This lady works but it's only part time which leaves her on a very low income only covering the bare necessities. She needs to get her car repaired as she relies on it heavily to get to work and to her church group otherwise she would be cut off from everything. She has been trying to raise the funds herself towards repairs but has fallen short needing to get the car roadworthy as soon as possible.

This lady is a single mother with two children. She is living off benefits as is unable to work. She is struggling to pay her utility bills which has left her with no money to purchase a cooker. She bought one 15 years ago second hand but it won't last her much longer. She desperately needs another cooker to provide hot meals for her family.
