Success Stories

The following are some of the success stories.

  • Gran can now spend Christmas with family

A 55 year-old grandmother wants to say thank Acts 435 donors so much to you for the donations of £85 for travel costs that have enabled her to see her grandchildren this Christmas. She has also had to turn the heating off due to no money and when the church advocate in Scarborough went to see her she was extremely concerned as the flat was freezing and the lady has terrible arthritis and other health problems. The money has also given her the confidence to put the heating on as she now doesn't need to find the money for Christmas. The money could potentially have saved this lady's life or a hospital visit because she looked terribly ill and cold when the church advocate came to see her. So thank you so very very much. And of course, you have made several children happy that they will see their Gran and receive presents :-)

  • How a Passport can be a Real Life Saver

A 47 year old homeless man in Bradford found all the doors closed to him because he didn't have any form of ID. What a difference £100 from ACTS 435 made. He now has a passport and has been able to secure somewhere to live and can now access benefits. He doesn't need his passport to travel overseas but it can be so important as a form of photographic ID. By providing this gentleman with a passport, Buttershaw Baptist Church, one of the ACTS 435 participating churches, has given him new opportunities and he can face 2012 with hope.

  • Free to Start Again

Thanks to £90 from ACTS 435 donors, one applicant was able to pay the debt relief order application fee which led to the order being granted the next day and a new start. This 58 year old single mother of two teenagers works as hard as she can, but could never have repaid her debts. She is now free to live within her means without the worry and stress of debt collectors or creditors chasing her. She is so very grateful.

  • Hardship Fund

Thanks to Acts 435, Henry was able to keep on surviving throughout a benefit delay. Henry is a vulnerable adult and moved from ESA to JSA and didn't fully understand the implications. The £90 was a significant help with utility bills and food.

  • Much Needed Microwave

Tracey came for assistance for food and didn't even have a can opener to open the tins. When delivering the food the case worker also noticed that there wasn't anything to warm the the food up in, no cooker or microwave. Therefore the caseworker decided this was a need for Acts 435, and took a chance and purchased a reasonably priced oven from the supermarket and waited to see if the money was forthcoming. Sure enough it did come through and not only that, but Tracey started to enquire after God. As she got involved with the local church, she made the decision to become a Christian. Her life has been transformed and Acts 435 has played an important role in that.

  • A new vacuum cleaner brings a smile

The applicant writes: "Thank you so much for my new vacuum cleaner. After working really hard to make positive changes in my life and after finally getting a flat that is a safe & comfortable place for me to live, it's so good to be able to keep it clean and tidy! The money that you have kindly given meant that I was able to get a reliable, upright vacuum cleaner which is easy for me to use. Thank you again for all your generosity - it is very much appreciated."

A small gift really can make a significant difference.

  • Christian Accommodating young homeless person.

A Christian woman on Jobseekers Allowance took in a young homeless person and struggled to provide for two persons. She was extremely grateful for a donation of £100 from Acts and thought it was wonderful that Christians who didn't know her had given money to help. The young person has now moved on but gave her life to Christ whilst with this woman. Praise God!

  • Diploma Tuition Fees

A young lady working three part time jobs needed £100 to help her pay off her Graduate Tuition Fees in order for her diploma to be released to enable her to move forward with her career and fulfill her dream of setting up a Drama Club for street children to show them God's love practically. She has not received any Government support and the money she earns is needed to cover her bills.
She is grateful for the £100 she has received from Acts 435 donors and wants to thank all those involved.

  • Living expenses after domestic violence

S was very happy to receive help from Acts after escaping from a violent relationship. She was in desperate need of basic necessities after paying off debts incurred by her partner and the £100 given by Acts 435 donors was a huge help towards this.

  • Help with rent at a critical moment

£100 donated by Acts 435 enabled Roda to stay in her flat and has given her a little more breathing space in order to start paying the rent again herself. She is very grateful.
