Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

Our client, who is a carer for his ex-partner, is in debt and on a low income, and was evicted by his landlord who threw away all his belongings. He has lost his personal belongings and work equipment and has currently been placed in new accommodation by the council. Our client will need a washing machine as his accommodation does not have one. He has long-term disability and currently relies solely on benefits. Please can you help him with the cost of a washing machine?

Total needed £200N is a lady in her mid forties who has a number of health issues, meaning that her and her two daughters have to survive on benefits. The health issues involve M.E (chronic fatigue syndrome) and muscle and joint pain in her back, which is made worse by the poor quality mattress she has to sleep on. N and her daughters are in temporary accommodation at the moment, and a memory foam orthopaedic mattress topper would enable N to take it with them when they move to a permanent address.

Total needed £170I have been asked by a Housing Officer to help this vulnerable lady, who usually has support, to manage her bills with energy vouchers. Sadly, the funding has run out and she is in need of a new vacuum cleaner as hers is broken. This lady is required to keep her flat clean, but has no spare money from her benefits to buy one. I will buy an Argos voucher for her with the Acts 435 donations so that it goes towards a cleaner. Please would you help her? Thank you.

Total needed £200R has lived in temporary, single parent accommodation with her one year old daughter for over eight months. She has just been given some good news; a flat of her own, and picked the keys up yesterday. R is so excited to set up a safe home for her daughter, but is also anxious, as she has no spare money from her Universal Credit to buy a sofa, curtains and cooking equipment. Please can we help this wonderful mum to start afresh, making this flat a home and safe place to make happy memories in?

Total needed £200This single man, who is in his late thirties, has multiple disabilities and poor mental health. He has an urgent requirement for a replacement microwave so that he is able to cook and heat his food. This single man suffers from severe gluten and dairy allergies, making food choices very limited, often very expensive, and almost invariably needing to be cooked or heated before eating.

Total needed £75My client, who has two school aged children, has been without a washing machine for two months. She struggles financially with her daily needs and relies heavily on food and fuel banks to look after her household. My client doesn't have any family or friends close by so cannot use their washing machine, and the cost of a laundrette is eating away at their food budget. Christians Against Poverty has recently helped with her debts, but mum is unable to work, due to female health issues.

Total needed £200Could you help a family and their six children, including a newborn baby, whose washing machine has broken. The machine was over ten years old and is not repairable. They were washing multiple loads per day and are struggling to manage without it. The family are able to contribute towards a new machine and fit it themselves, but would be very grateful for financial support to cover the remaining amount. This help would relieve pressure on this family, who are already stretched and under a lot of stress.

Total needed £200Our client suffers from heart disease and has had several cardiovascular surgeries over recent years. He is prone to infection and has spent the past five months in a care home, due to a bacterial infection that impacted both his mental and physical health. This resulted in his long term partner, of over twenty years, refusing to have him at home, thereby, leaving him homeless. Our client has now been awarded a council bungalow, but is in receipt of a pension income and cannot afford to equip his new home with a fridge freezer.

Total needed £155This lady, who is in her late sixties, has mobility and other health issues. She had to move from her home, following a severe leak and repair issues. Following refurbishment, this lady can now move back in, but needs floor covering for her living room and bedroom, as her carpets were damaged and she had no insurance. This lady has little savings, and the property will be cold without floor covering, which will not help her health.

This lady is also a full-time carer for her own mother, even though she herself suffers severely from depression, for which she is taking medicine prescribed by the doctor.

Total needed £200We've known K since the age of sixteen when she lived at the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), due to multiple risk factors. We now support her through our outreach service for women selling sex on the streets. K has had poor mental health and addiction, but is currently clean. She needs a microwave and washing machine to avoid travelling to the day centre on the other side of town, but cannot afford these items, as she is on Universal Credit. K, who engages well with us and other services, is still vulnerable and at risk of exploitation. These gifts will bless her.

Total needed £200Safe Families are supporting an Iranian refugee who arrived in the UK in the summer 2023, with his twelve year old son. They have recently been rehoused and do not have a vacuum cleaner, microwave or all of the kitchen equipment that they need, such as cutlery and crockery. The family is on a low income and does not have the finances to equip the home. We would love to provide them with a voucher so dad can prioritise his and his son’s requirements, and purchase some items for their new home.
