Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.
This family has just received leave to remain in the UK and has been placed in unfurnished emergency accommodation. They need some financial assistance to purchase a fridge freezer for their new home. Waiting for their immigration status to be granted has been a particularly stressful process as mum also has advanced pancreatic cancer. Any support you can provide to help the family members settle into their new home would be very much appreciated.

Total needed £200Our foodbank client has two young children and is unable to work as both children are high need. She is on benefits alone and cannot save large amounts as she needs to constantly support her children. Mum lives far away from her family, who are unable to financially support her. She has no recourse to public funds. The double buggy will be for her three month old and one and a half year old. The buggy will help her get around her local area and will allow her children to travel safely.

Total needed £200Mum works in a pharmacy and dad is no longer able to run his business, due to mental health and physical disabilities. The family lives in North London and is in a massive amount of debt, due to the business failing. They are struggling to afford bills and food, and are working with Christians Against Poverty towards being debt free. They do not have a washing machine so are having to hand wash all their clothes. Total needed £200This young person is a child, aged seventeen years old, who has been age disputed and taken out of Social Services care as they believe he is over eighteen. While we support him to challenge this, he has no source of income and will be struggling financially. This young person will need support to be able to afford travel to his solicitor and our office, and to buy himself food and new clothes.

Total needed £150Our client has extreme vertigo which can totally incapacitate her for several days at a time. As a result, she is living on benefits and cannot save large sums of money. She would like to start a small crystal craft business in order to remain motivated. However, our client has great difficulty reading messages on her mobile phone. A laptop would help her enormously to read emails and text without struggling, attend online courses on setting up and developing a business, and to design her crystals.

Total needed £150Our client was previously homeless and living in temporary housing provided by the council. She has now been reallocated a new flat, due to her medical conditions, and her flat has been assessed by an Occupational Therapist to ensure its suitability. However, the flat does not come with any household essentials and furniture. Our client is on a low income and is solely reliant on benefits, due to being unfit for work. She is claiming Universal Credit and an enhanced rate of Personal Independence Payment. Please can you help her to buy a washer-dryer?

Total needed £200S, who has been waiting over two years for his refugee status, has been unable to work or claim benefits this whole time. His mental health is severe which means he struggles to get involved in many activities, and has very little money to support him day to day. S relies on charities and his volunteer host to help him when they can. He has asked for some help with joining a gym, which will give him some independence and help to improve his mental health.

Total needed £130Our client had a stroke on the right side of his body and has been hospitalised since summer 2022. He has also suffered a relationship breakdown and could have potentially been homeless when discharged from the Stroke Unit. Our client has recently secured some accommodation, but it is completely empty. A bed would ensure that he will be as comfortable as possible on discharge, however, he cannot afford this as he is in receipt of Universal Credit. Thank you so much for reading this.

Total needed £200Our client was living with his family until August 2022 when the relationship broke down. He then slept on the sofa at his brother's house, but after his brother died, he was asked to leave. Our client began riding the 53 bus and was picked up by Streetlink at Elephant and Castle. He was taken to St Mungo's and then put in temporary accommodation by Lewisham's rough sleepers team. Our client has finally been placed in permanent housing and would be so grateful for a fridge freezer, which he cannot afford as he is on Universal Credit.

Total needed £200S is a homeless man in his sixties who is sleeping rough and has struggled over a long time with having no status in the UK. We are supporting him with getting accommodation and regularising his affairs. In the meantime, he needs help staying safe and warm at night. Please would you donate to help S buy a sleeping bag, mat and pillow that will give him a little bit of comfort and stability while we help him to get things sorted?

Total needed £100Our client, who suffers from hypertension and depression, is an asylum seeker from Pakistan who has been resident in the UK for twenty years. He has obtained charitable funding to pay for a solicitor who will represent his asylum appeal. However, there are additional costs that our client cannot meet, as he is reliant on friends for accommodation, food and basic needs. He requires an ID card and passport from his country of origin, a statement of his NHS history and travel costs to the High commission. Our client hopes for permission to remain and to work in haematology within the NHS.

Total needed £200This vulnerable young man has just been put out of the family home and has nowhere to go. He is engaging well with our employment charity and has a realistic chance of finding work and being able to pay for future rent, but not if he is street homeless. This support will cover two nights emergency accommodation in a regular hotel (including a substantial hot buffet breakfast), whilst other options are looked at with support.
