£0 remaining for a Debt Relief Order
Our applicant, who has four children with learning difficulties, has musculoskeletal problems and mental health issues. Their debts are taking a toll on their mental health. They have now accepted help from a Debt Advisor from our local Citizens Advice Bureau who has advised them that a Debt Relief Order would, at this time, be the best way forward for them.
This young woman, who has come to us from marital abuse, has been assaulted. The centre immediately registered her up for our local domestic violence initiative, Aspirations, and gave her food and clothes. She is engaging well, given the incredibly difficult conditions she finds herself in. Our intention is to provide a three-night stay as a temporary solution while this young woman makes connections with neighbourhood agencies that could offer continued support and, ideally, a covert housing transition.
This lady, who has been sleeping at the local basement parking lot, visits the centre on a regular basis. Blankets, sleeping bags, clothing and food are requested so that she can be supported to furnish her home. St Vincent de Paul (SVP) has been interacting with outside organisations in an effort to locate this lady a long-term residence. We anticipate finishing the move into a council property next month. SVP is asking for a support package to assist with leaving the parking lot and finding a new permanent home.
This gentleman was recently released from the criminal justice system and was invited to visit the St Vincent de Paul (SVP) centre to explore what help we could provide. He is excited to assist with cleaning and set-up for both the day sessions and the night sessions. Additionally, he was successful in landing a place at a rehabilitation treatment facility. SVP is requesting three nights in a nearby bed and breakfast establishment, as a temporary stay before he moves to the rehabilitation housing, and a food package.
