L, who is originally from Taiwan, came to the UK with her English husband and four year old daughter. Within a year she found her self homeless as the marriage became abusive. After lengthy court involvement L now has equal access and is about to move into an unfurnished flat. Her local church, where she volunteers, has rallied round, but her wish is to have a decent second-hand fridge freezer so that she can prepare and store healthy home cooked food, however, her only income is Universal Credit.

There are huge concerns that the pregnancy might not hold as her waters have broken early and she needs as much bed rest as possible. C, who has additional needs, lives with her husband and two children. After life-changing medical incidents for both her and her husband, there is significant financial strain on the family. Regularly reliant on Foodbank, the family are concerned about Christmas. C is trying her best to save money each month to purchase a new bed for her son, as the current one is unsuitable. This money would be used to purchase a more suitable bed so that they can afford the daily/weekly essentials.
