£0 remaining for a Debt Relief Order
P has been working with Christians Against Poverty (CAP) for debt help. She has suffered with ongoing cancer treatment over the last few years and not been able to work. Her debts have increased during this period and her mental health has been very poor. With the help of her landlady, P has come to CAP for debt help and, at the same time, been encouraged to get on top of her current bills. CAP have suggested a Debt Relief Order to clear the historic debt and have a fresh start. This would be amazing for P.
D, who suffers with mental health problems, has recently moved into a flat after being homeless for twelve months. He receives Universal Credit, but is hopeful that he may soon be fit for work. D has two children who live with their mother, but his young son suffers from Cystic Fibrosis and is currently very ill in hospital and awaiting a double lung transplant. D visits him regularly, but the hospital is some distance away and the travel expenses are using up most of his money. His own needs are less important to him at present, but he has little to furnish and equip his home, so help to buy a washing machine would be a real blessing.
D, who is currently sleeping on a broken bed, has had mobility issues and also suffers from restless legs syndrome (RLS). This causes a lot of pain at night and he has to stretch his legs out in bed. D is on a low income, only receives State Pension and is also struggling with the rising cost of living.
P, who has been a drug user for most of his life, hasn't previously been able to keep a stable home and this has stopped him from coming off the drugs. He now has a stable home and is being supported with a methadone recovery programme, but his home doesn't have a fridge freezer. P has serious heart and circulation problems, which make trips to the shop for food very difficult. A fridge freezer would mean he could stock up and shop less often, which would make a huge difference to his daily life.
