£140 remaining for an under-counter cooker
This lady, who was referred to us by the local foodbank, is a single parent with three children living at home, one of whom has additional needs. Her cooker is broken, which is making it difficult to cook for the family and, with winter approaching, there is a need to provide hot meals. Mum is currently receiving benefits and generally manages her money well, but does not have enough spare to be able to save for a new cooker. Any help will be very gratefully received.
This lady and her partner have a long term relationship with the local Christians Against Poverty centre and, over the years, have come to a really stable place. So much so that this lady is having her children to stay with her for the longest period in a number of years. In the light of this, she wants to sort her garden out and create a usable space. Initially this means removing significant amounts of rubbish, much left by previous tenants. This funding, if raised, will go towards this initial step.
This gentleman has sadly experienced anti-social behaviour in his property which he shares with his disabled father. They were forced to move into temporary accommodation for a time, which hasn’t been easy, but have now thankfully been given a new place. Unfortunately though, due in part to the cost of the initial move, he cannot afford the removal van this time around. This funding, if raised, will be used for hiring the local man with a van to sort this for them.
D, who was a victim of domestic violence, has been affected by the abuse. After receiving a long-term brain injury, caused by a stroke, she is unable to work and has additional ill health. While struggling financially, her new partner has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is having radiotherapy. Increased energy bills and hospital trips make money tight, and weight loss, due to his treatment, means his clothes don't fit. They only have one set of bedding. With no support, they are struggling to care for each other.
