L, a single woman from Hull, is facing hardship after a domestic violence situation. She is unemployed, struggles with mental health and disability, and lacks social or legal support. Seeking assistance, she approached us for furniture for her rented accommodation. Our organization provided L with essential items including a table and chairs, sofa, wardrobe, oven and fridge, worth £150, to help her rebuild during this challenging time.
C, who ended an abusive relationship about a year ago, is rebuilding her life after her former partner was financially abusive and stole her possessions. C, who is benefit-dependent and has a low income and no savings, has been without carpets for a long time. She also has ongoing pain issues as a result of a historic domestic assault which resulted in broken ribs. C is worrying about her bills now winter is approaching as her house is so cold. Please can you help her to pay for the fitting of carpets that have kindly been donated?
C, who is in financial crisis and going through a Debt Relief Order, has been abused financially and physically, and is desperate to get her life back on track. After leaving a women's refuge, she has now been rehoused with a local social landlord. C wants to make her house into a home for her children, but she can't afford to carpet it as her income is low and she has no savings. X has lived for two years without any flooring in her council flat, since securing the accommodation after fleeing domestic abuse. She suffers from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dyslexia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and asthma, and is in recovery from substance addiction. Trying to turn her life around, X is currently studying for a degree and her sole income is her student loan. Turned down for a previous grant application for carpets, X has managed to raise £717 of the £917 needed from other charities, and just needs the remaining £200.
