£0 remaining for a food voucher and an Oyster card top-up
B has stage four cancer and is unable to work as a result. He and his wife are being evicted from their flat and are at risk of homelessness. They are struggling with daily living costs and finding a rent deposit. Although they have applied to the council for funding, this is likely to take some time to come through and, in the meantime, £150 towards food and travel costs would help B and his wife through this particularly difficult period.
Our client has been homeless for several months, which was a traumatic experience for him. A charity helped him to move into a flat, but he has no facilities there. He is sleeping on clothes on the floor, so a mattress would give him somewhere comfortable to sleep. Our client has no bedding so he would also really appreciate donations to help buy this. He has back problems, but hopes that an improvement in his living standards will enable him to look for a job.
A is caring for her sixteen and fourteen year old granddaughters who she brought over from Kenya in 2022 when their parents were no longer able to care for them. She is struggling financially on Universal Credit and Child Benefit. A made space for the children, who both have mental health issues, to share a bedroom where they feel comfortable and safe. Typical teenagers, they are keen to decorate and personalise the bedroom. £200 will support this, provide them with an electric heater, a wardrobe and bedding.
Our client is a vulnerable young person from Afghanistan who is seeking refuge in the UK. He cannot afford food and travel as he recently lost his ASPEN card. A contribution of £100 would help immensely as £50 will be used to top-up his oyster card and the other £50 for a food voucher.
