£0 remaining for a chest of drawers
Safe Families are supporting a mum who wants to make her home a cleaner and safer place for her and her daughter. Their clothes are in bags and on the floor, and they don't have the storage they need. Mum does not have the financial means to purchase storage/furniture items and has had to rely on support from others and second hand items. Mum is on Universal Credit and has not been able to work or claim Child Benefit since being here, as she has not had a work or residency permit.
This request is for a single mum and her three boys who have fled domestic abuse. The family has been given a house by the local housing association and can finally leave the shelter. There is nothing in the property and, although we have been able to source lots of furniture and flooring, there is no washing machine. Mum needs a machine for the three different school uniforms and clothes the kids go through. Please can you help?
Our client was referred to us after he was found to be living in extremely cramped circumstances. Due to a relationship breakdown, he split from his partner and became the sole guardian of all six of his children. They moved into a three bedroom property with no furniture and his children are currently sleeping in sleeping bags and on couches. Due to a low income, dad cannot afford beds. This funding would allow him to purchase enough beds and bedding to ensure his children have a comfortable place to sleep.
This client came to us for support after she had recently moved into her new property after living in a hostel with her four children for the past two years. Mum now has her own accommodation, however, she cannot afford to purchase beds, due to low income and high outgoings. Mum has been helped by the local council with other furnishings, however, she is in desperate need of beds to ensure her children have a comfortable place to sleep. This support would give her the fresh start she is desperate for.
