£0 remaining for clothing and food
Our client came to the UK on a work visa with her husband, who is unable to work as he has Prostate Cancer. When her work permit was expiring, she applied to the Home Office for leave to remain. Sadly, this was refused and both herself and her husband became destitute with no access to public funds. The case with the Home Office is ongoing and is at the appeal stage. They have asked us for help with food and clothing. £100 would help to buy clothing and provide a little extra for their food budget.
S, who has been waiting over two years for his refugee status, has been unable to work or claim benefits this whole time. His mental health is severe which means he struggles to get involved in many activities, and has very little money to support him day to day. S relies on charities and his volunteer host to help him when they can. He has asked for some help with joining a gym, which will give him some independence and help to improve his mental health.
K and J are parents to four children. K is currently studying and in her final year before being offered a paid, permanent placement in the public health sector, and J is now self-employed. The family receives Universal Credit, support from the local authority for school uniform. The children need new school shoes and financial support with topping up school lunch accounts. One of the children also needs a new coat as they have outgrown theirs.
Our client had a stroke on the right side of his body, causing him to be hospitalised since summer 2022. He has also suffered a relationship breakdown and could have been homeless when discharged from the Stroke Unit. Our client has recently secured some accommodation, but it is completely empty. A bed would ensure that he is as comfortable as possible on discharge. However, as our client is in receipt of Universal Credit, he cannot afford a mattress. Thank you so much for reading this.
