£0 remaining for a Debt Relief Order
J has had a tough time over the last few years, but has managed to escape an abusive marriage and, with help, is rebuilding her life. Having left the marriage, she took out loans to survive, which, with interest, have grown substantially. We are hoping to get a Debt Relief Order to help her to move on, shed the burden of debt and the anxiety it causes. Please can you help?
J is an elderly, single gentleman with poor health, who is dependent on basic benefits with no savings. He was evicted from his home last year, as his landlord sold the property. Since then J has been in hospital, a care home and temporary accommodation. He has found a new flat with the help of Age UK, but he has no furniture or essential household items. Riviera Life church has helped with kitchen and bedroom essentials, but J needs a fridge freezer for safe food storage and economical purposes.
R is a single mum with three young children who has escaped domestic violence from the father of her children. The family has had to start afresh in a new town and new home, with no finances or possessions to furnish it. R is currently not working, due to the impact of the domestic violence on her mental health, so is dependent on basic benefits with no savings. Riviera Life church has provided beds and bedding for the family, but they desperately need a cooker and would be grateful for any help towards it.
Our resident, who is in his twenties and is in receipt of benefits, has been in our supported accommodation for over sixteen months. We have now found suitable accommodation for him, with the local authority, and he is starting the process of moving. The accommodation lacks carpets, which we have been able to source some funding for, however, he needs to pay for a local carpet fitter to fit the carpets throughout the flat. This will help to make it feel like a home and also keep the flat warm.
