March Prayer Bulletin 2022

Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord. Joel 1:14

It seems very appropriate that today is Ash Wednesday, when, as Christians, we choose to give up certain luxuries to focus on God and lift situations up to him. However, I am also acutely aware that there are many in the UK who are going without luxuries, or essentials, on a daily basis. It is good to stop and think of those who are going without as we enter this Lent period. The news is constantly speaking about the rising cost of living, and the essentials that many are unable to afford. As a charity we hope to speak into these situations, to not only highlight our work but also to grow our network of churches and donors so that we can increase the amount of people we can help. Please join us in praying as we send out several press releases, advertise our work and seek to help more people who are in poverty in the UK.

Firstly, this month we're very thankful to God for:

  • Two wonderful days connecting with churches in London and Edinburgh. We spoke to many churches who were keen to partner with us to help meet the needs of those in their communities. Please pray as we follow up these connections, especially those in Scotland where "there was an audible gasp when we showed the partners map and they saw how empty it was compared to parts of England".
  • The response to our most recent online coffee events for interested churches, which has seen people spreading the word and signing up.
  • The 550 individuals and families who have been helped by Acts 435 Advocates and donors with £68,260 distributed in February to those who need it most.

Please also pray for:

  • Our next local gathering of Advocates and Church Leaders on 9th March in Hull. Please pray for a positive response and good connections to be made.
  • A meeting with Growing Rural Churches in Devon on 11th March, which is a great opportunity to talk about how smaller, more rural, churches can still get involved in what we do.
  • A meeting with Welcome Churches as we explore how we could resource their churches to meet the needs of those seeking refuge from Ukraine.
  • The Communications Team as they prepare adverts to go into several publications and newspapers.
  • Katie and Jenny as they prepare and send out two press releases to mark two years since the beginning of the pandemic, and to coincide with the fuel increases in April.
  • The Communications Team as we prepare for our online supporter events on 7th April.
