Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

This young woman, who is pregnant, has recently experienced domestic abuse and had to relocate urgently, due to her ex-partner's behaviour, resulting in financial hardship. Our goal is to provide temporary accommodation for four nights in a bed and breakfast while we collaborate with local domestic violence agencies to secure a more permanent housing arrangement. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Total needed £200K has finally got a fresh start and a job gardening after a long time suffering depression, but had to buy his own equipment. He saved up to buy what he needed and was doing really well until his hedge trimmer broke. K needs to get a replacement at a cost of £100 but, after paying his bills and rent, he has no spare money and just cannot afford to replace this needed item. Gardening helps his mental health as he struggles with depression. Please can you help?

Total needed £100S has been referred to Romero to ask if we can help support her with her mental health and hoarding issues. She has been served notice to leave her property. With support from her local council, S hopes to move to another property but, due to hoarding, she needs help in decluttering before she can make this fresh start. Please can you help us to support her to hire the skip she desperately needs to enable her to start taking control over her life and wellbeing again?

Total needed £160L and her son were recently moved into temporary accommodation with no white goods. Extra expenses for her son's care have made it impossible to buy the essentials they need. Mum would value your help to buy a freezer so that she can decrease her cooking expenses by batch cooking.

Total needed £200C is seventy five years old and lives with her disabled partner in a very cluttered property. She is accessing support from her housing worker to help with decluttering, as her property is no longer safe to live in. C's housing worker has asked if we can support her to obtain a skip to start to declutter her home, making it safe for herself and her partner. If C can get the support she needs, it will improve her mental health greatly and she can look forward to living a safer, healthier life in her own home.

Total needed £160R, who has recently moved into his own accommodation, has been in a supported homeless hostel for two and a half years. He engaged with us, both in Newcastle and more recently in Edinburgh. R has completed our Barista training programme and has a part-time job in the community café he did his placement with. He is also volunteering with another café and starting to look for additional work, but is currently on Universal Credit. R would like to be able to get a mattress and bedding for his new flat.

Total needed £140J is a single mum with five children who has recently escaped from a twelve year long domestic violence relationship. The family have been living in a safe house, but now have their own home. Mum is dependent on basic benefits as she has pre-school children and suffers with anxiety as a result of the domestic violence. J has no savings, as she was not allowed to have her own money. Her tumble dryer is irreparably broken and she desperately needs a new one to dry the considerable laundry from her five children.

Total needed £200I had a lovely chat with this client who was placed in temporary accommodation in early 2022. Her case was overlooked and she was deemed as not a housing need, eventually becoming homeless. In 2024, our client was picked up by Streetlink and placed in St Mungo's for a week. She was then moved to a winter shelter which was not suitable for her medical needs. This lady has finally found suitable housing, but is in need of furniture. She said a double mattress would be really great. Thank you for your support.
