Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

Our client was living with his family until August 2022 when the relationship broke down. He then slept on the sofa at his brother's house, but after his brother died, he was asked to leave. Our client began riding the 53 bus and was picked up by Streetlink at Elephant and Castle. He was taken to St Mungo's and then put in temporary accommodation by Lewisham's rough sleepers team. Our client has finally been placed in permanent housing and would be so grateful for a fridge freezer, which he cannot afford as he is on Universal Credit.

Total needed £200This young woman recently obtained a council flat and the existing floor coverings are effectively non-existent. She was made redundant before Christmas and is trying to find full-time employment, but has only currently managed to find part-time work and has a benefit claim pending. Whilst floor coverings are being supplied to her, this young woman cannot afford to have them fitted. Your help in funding this would make a huge difference to her and transform where she lives. Thank you.

Total needed £150RT is a Ghanaian national who has lived in the UK for many years. She has been homeless for around fifteen years and has solely relied on her friends in the UK for accommodation, food and essentials. We have assisted RT to make an application for leave to remain, but she does not have any form of ID except for her birth certificate, as she has never been able to pay the fee for a new passport. Unfortunately, the Home Office does not accept birth certificates as sufficient ID for an application. Please can you help RT to get a passport?

Total needed £200We've known K since the age of sixteen when she lived at the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), due to multiple risk factors. We now support her through our outreach service for women selling sex on the streets. K has had poor mental health and addiction, but is currently clean. She needs a microwave and washing machine to avoid travelling to the day centre on the other side of town, but cannot afford these items, as she is on Universal Credit. K, who engages well with us and other services, is still vulnerable and at risk of exploitation. These gifts will bless her.

Total needed £200Safe Families are supporting an Iranian refugee who arrived in the UK in the summer 2023, with his twelve year old son. They have recently been rehoused and do not have a vacuum cleaner, microwave or all of the kitchen equipment that they need, such as cutlery and crockery. The family is on a low income and does not have the finances to equip the home. We would love to provide them with a voucher so dad can prioritise his and his son’s requirements, and purchase some items for their new home.

Total needed £200Our client left her family home, due to her husband’s controlling behaviour, which was increasingly becoming worse and was leading towards her having dark thoughts. The only person she knew in the end was her husband and she wanted to take her own life. Our client left her home and now have a flat she is moving into next week with her fifteen year old son. Mum would love to be able to buy some bedding, duvets and kitchen items, such as a microwave and kettle as she only left with a suitcase of clothes.

Total needed £200P was just about managing in Housing Association accommodation when Covid hit. With only his pension and pension credit, he got into rent arrears and was eventually evicted. Having been in temporary accommodation since then has been difficult, but he has now secured permanent accommodation. However, it is completely unfurnished and he must start again. A bed frame would prevent P from having to sleep on the floor, and help him regain some self-esteem and confidence so that he can get back on his feet.

In order to keep busy and help his mental health, he has given his time each week to help a local charity complete maintenance work for at least ten hours a week.
