Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

S is a single mum who is suffering from depression and other health issues, due to having had to endure twelve years of antisocial behaviour from her next-door neighbour. The neighbour was moved recently and S has taken this opportunity to make a new start. This included asking Christians Against Poverty for help with her debts. S would really appreciate your help with buying a new microwave, as hers stopped working a few weeks ago and, with a teenage boy in the house, it is really missed. Any remaining money is for food vouchers.

Total needed £150This young lady came to the St Vincent de Paul (SVP) centre in a precarious situation. She had to leave her husband, due to violence directed towards her and her children. The SVP team is actively supporting her and the children, making referrals to appropriate personnel. Additionally, mum has mobility issues and is currently confined to her home. We urgently request food support and a phone to allow her to make calls and for applications for support.

Total needed £200This fifty four year old client of the Sue Lambert Trust is on Universal Credit, but his income is low, due to the under occupancy charge, and he doesn't feel mentally strong enough to consider moving to alleviate this. Our client has just enough coming in to pay rent and bills, but no money left over to buy food and so eats very little. He is hoping to use some of his pension in July to start up a business to alleviate money worries, but will have a very low income until then. Some help to buy food would be appreciated.

Total needed £120M is a single mum who suffers with severe anxiety and depression, due to being a victim of domestic abuse. She also suffers from asthma, fatigue, insomnia, migraine and has neck and back issues. M has had to reduce her working hours, due to her health, and is struggling with debt. She has reached out to Citizens Advice Bureau and they are helping to provide advice regarding her debts. Please would you consider supporting this family with some funds towards food and essentials whilst they receive help? Thank you.

Total needed £120S is a young person seeking asylum in the UK. We are supporting them with their immigration case and other positive activities e.g. youth activities and English classes. They have applied for asylum support funding for destitution relief, but this is expected to take at least one month to be processed. They urgently need financial support to cover travel costs in London to visit their solicitor and caseworker (£10 each time), as well as money for food for the month.

Total needed £100K is a single lady with multiple health problems and as a result she is on long term sick leave and cannot work. As such she is only in receipt of benefits, and is struggling to buy food once all her household bills are paid. K is hoping her benefits will be increased after a review, which is due shortly, but until then she would appreciate a voucher to tide her over, enabling her to buy food and essentials and not worry where her next meal is coming from.

Total needed £100S has no cooker, and is struggling financially because Universal Credit and PIP (Personal Independence Payments) have stopped her money. She is diabetic, and needs a cooker to enable her to cook fresh, healthy meals for her diet- ready meals put her at risk of going into hospital. She comes to our café at church on a Thursday, where she can get a fresh meal for a reasonable price. She moved to Rochdale recently because she had to leave her last home because there was a drug problem. She left her belongings when she moved into a flat and is sleeping on the floor at the moment.

Total needed £200Our client is a new refugee whose benefits are being processed. He needs your kind support to buy food because he has no friends or family who can support him, he has no financial income and is still unemployed. Our client will be happy if this support can be given to him as this will give him a chance to make some home-made meals, pending the time he receives his benefits from the government.

Total needed £50This couple, who are both working as carers on minimum wages, have four children so have to plan shifts to cover both work and childcare. This means that there are times when one of them can't take work so they struggle financially. Their freezer had broken down and they have lost all the food in it. This was a second-hand freezer and it is now beyond repair. They like to batch cook and freeze, as this saves money and time, so would really benefit from help to get a replacement freezer.

He is agoraphobic, suffers panic attacks, has irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), anxiety and depression.
