Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

T is a single mum with three children, one of whom has autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and left the bath running by accident, flooding the house. The family had gone out for the day and the taps were running for over twelve hours. The flooring on the stairs, in the lounge and kitchen has been ruined. T doesn't have insurance and her landlord won't pay as it was entirely her fault. Her only income is Universal Credit and she has no savings, so has no hope of replacing the carpets. Any help Acts 435 can offer will be gratefully received.

Total needed £200This woman, who was referred to us by the Social Prescriber, was forced to move from her flat, due to severe abuse and threatening behaviour from neighbours, which escalated to the point that the police became involved. In addition to this trauma, this woman suffers from multiple physical health problems, including spinal cauda equina. The only piece of furniture she was able to take with her is a fridge. We urgently request your assistance with a washing machine, including delivery and installation.

Total needed £200L, who fled an abusive relationship earlier in the year, and fell pregnant, has moved back to sleeping on her parents sofa, but then was offered a property. She has moved in and we have helped with lots of second-hand furniture, however, she has no cooker. L would really appreciate your support in helping to purchase a cooker so she can cook meals for herself and her little girl. She is currently reliant on Universal Credit so will not be able to afford to purchase a cooker. Many thanks.

Total needed £200S, who receives Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment, has been living in a first floor council flat. The last few years have been filled with many hospital admissions, some lasting for over a month, which have created mobility issues for S. Her flat cannot be adapted so she has had to source other accommodation. S has secured a tenancy with Anchor Housing in a retirement village where her needs will be supported. Any Acts 435 donations towards the removal costs will help her financially.

Total needed £200L has three young children who share a bedroom. Currently, the children have no storage in their bedroom, so it is very difficult to keep their clothes tidy and clean. Mum would really like to be able to get some wardrobes and chests of drawers so that she can keep their room tidy. However, L is not currently able to work and her Universal Credit only just covers daily living costs, so she is not able to save towards anything.

Total needed £200P had to leave her accommodation, due to personal safety issues, and lost all her belongings in the process. She is unable to work, due to mental and physical health problems, including sciatica and arthritis. These are being aggravated by her only having a blow-up bed to sleep on at present, and she has nowhere comfortable to sit. P awaits the outcome of her Personal Independence Payment application. A sofa bed would dramatically improve her quality of life and help her have the strength to deal with her situation.

Total needed £200S is an asylum seeker who fled from Kurdistan in Iraq with her mother because of religious and family conflicts. Her family also wanted her to marry a cousin, a man much older than her. Total needed £200L, who has escaped domestic abuse, has been rehomed twice, once in temporary accommodation and now in a permanent home. The home has concrete floors which are unsuitable for her small two year old daughter, making the house cold, and also making it very difficult for her to play with and be with her child. Please would you help us arrange better flooring, either vinyl or a carpet, to make life better for L and her child?

Total needed £200This refugee family from Afghanistan has been given accommodation in Leeds, following a successful application for leave to remain, but the house is empty of any appliances or furniture. As they are not yet working, the family asks for help with £200 to purchase a used fridge freezer and delivery. This would make it possible for them to not shop every day, and reduce the risk of illness, due to no proper storage. Please can you help them in their quest to settle well?

Total needed £200Having served eighteen months in an open prison, this man was released, only to find himself homeless for two months before a local social housing company secured him a flat. He has literally had to start from scratch to equip it, is making good progress, and pacing the expenditure well. However, our client is finding the £16 charge to wash and dry his clothes at the launderette too great a hit to his small Universal Credit income. He would love his own washing machine instead. Can you help him, please?

Total needed £200E and her two children are struggling with the rise in the cost of living and finding it increasingly difficult to feed themselves and heat their home, especially as the weather starts to get colder. Mum has accumulated some debt and has now sought help from her local branch of Frontline Debt Advice. Whilst she receives help with her debt and hopefully gets back on track, would you please consider helping this family with some funds towards food and energy? Your help will be much appreciated.

Total needed £150C, a former addict who has been homeless for most of his life, moved into his first home just over twelve months ago. He is working extremely hard to maintain his sobriety and keep his flat. Sadly, he bought a second-hand sofa which was infested with bedbugs. C has bought several products to try to eradicate this problem and it is beginning to affect his mental health. His housing provider and local council have been contacted, but have said it is the tenant's responsibility to pay for pest control.

Total needed £150L has struggled with managing finances, due to the economic climate, which has led to him losing his home and he is now living in supported accommodation. L needs some day-to-day clothes so that he can feel a sense of pride when he’s attending volunteering and training courses with his focus on returning to work. L does not have many clothes and he is a very proud individual who struggles to ask for help. The new clothes and shoes will help him maintain a sense of pride when getting back out into society.

Total needed £120L, who has recently moved to her first tenancy with a local housing association, has sofa surfed for twelve months, due to her relationship with her parents breaking down when L found out her mother had taken out debts in her name, which she is having to pay off. More recently, L was a victim of domestic abuse from her dad which has massively effected her mental health. She has managed to hold down her job, has saved some money to buy items for her flat and has obtained some free items from Gumtree. L requires a washing machine to be able help her set up home and become self sufficient, instead of taking clothes to friends to have them washed, which she has done since leaving the family home.

Total needed £160S and her husband moved to the UK just over a year ago on work visas. S became pregnant whilst here and has been unable to work since her baby, aged three months old, arrived. Mum became ill with mastitis, which necessitated an operation. Visa restrictions mean that they can't claim benefits, and the family are struggling to afford food, with S at risk of malnutrition. They are currently staying with mum's uncle, but there is only one bed so her husband has to sleep on the floor.
