School Uniform Appeal 2026
The summer holidays have only just begun for most families in the UK. However, many are already thinking about how they will afford the cost of school uniforms, and other equipment, in time for their children returning to school in September.
This thank you message came in from a local church who has been supporting a single mum, and one of her needs was uniform for her children:
Thank you so much for the donations made for this single mum to buy school uniform for all three of her children who, due to rehousing, are enrolling into a new school. School uniform is a financial strain, so having these funds has really helped her financial burden at a time when she is dealing with other pressures. Mum has been coming in to see the Advocacy Worker a number of times and has now purchased everything she needs, and she explained how truly grateful she is.
The cost of uniform, at any time of year, is a financial strain for many families.

The rising cost of living, household bills and other essential expenses have placed significant pressure on A’s finances. This support would help A purchase the necessary uniforms, shoes, bags and school supplies without taking money away from other essential household expenses.

Total needed £150We’ve been supporting J, a single mum who’s been having a really tough time financially. She had to leave work just over a year ago because of health issues and is still trying to recover and get back on her feet. In the meantime, she’s struggling with day-to-day costs. She’s now finding it hard to raise the money for her daughter’s school uniform, so we’re asking if we can get some help towards the cost.

Total needed £120E and her husband have four children. Her husband is seriously ill and is awaiting a transplant. They are in temporary accommodation and have been moved to multiple properties. As a result, E is depressed and receiving mental health support. The children are also feeling the effects of not being in a stable home. They are trying to manage on benefits and with one child heading off to university, money is particularly tight. They would really appreciate your support with school uniforms.

Total needed £200Our client is a single mother who has health problems and is not working and is receiving Universal Credit for herself and her daughter. The new school year is starting again and her daughter needs a new set of uniforms, PE kit, bag and shoes and the total amount that she needs is £267. We, the St Vincent De Paul Society, will provide the balance of £67 and we are asking kind donors to contribute the rest that is needed for this family.

She recently moved into an empty house with her family with all the needs of buying beds, linen, tables, chairs and other household equipment. She was also faced with paying high electricity bills and water rates. She is overwhelmed with her situation. She needs your help to get a voucher to buy uniforms for a daughter going to primary school, and another to nursery.

Total needed £200S is an Asylum seeker with 2 children age 8 and 5 years. She recently moved from temporary accommodation to a house. She is faced with buying furniture for the house, providing food for their daily living and buying school uniform and equipment for the children. The allowance she gets is grossly inadequate for all of this. Please give so that she can get vouchers to buy school uniform for her children.
