School Uniform Appeal 2026

The summer holidays have only just begun for most families in the UK. However, many are already thinking about how they will afford the cost of school uniforms, and other equipment, in time for their children returning to school in September.

This thank you message came in from a local church who has been supporting a single mum, and one of her needs was uniform for her children:

Thank you so much for the donations made for this single mum to buy school uniform for all three of her children who, due to rehousing, are enrolling into a new school. School uniform is a financial strain, so having these funds has really helped her financial burden at a time when she is dealing with other pressures. Mum has been coming in to see the Advocacy Worker a number of times and has now purchased everything she needs, and she explained how truly grateful she is.

The cost of uniform, at any time of year, is a financial strain for many families.

We have several requests for help with school uniform and other essential school items, which will lift a burden for families this summer. Take a look at the requests for help below, and consider donating to help a family who are unable to financially afford the cost of this.

£200 needed for a second hand double pram and school uniforms

We kindly request support for a single mother with four children aged 11, 10, 4 and 3. She is on a very low income and has recently been sanctioned by Universal Credit for one week. The pram used for her two youngest children is no longer safe or usable. Her youngest child has additional needs, making a suitable pram essential. She is happy to accept a good-quality second-hand pram. She recently accessed the Food Bank for food too. She seeks support for school uniforms if possible, she said.

A was working full time but since the children’s diagnoses she no longer has childcare so has had to reduce her hours by more than half. She is in receipt of Universal Credit, and no paternal support. As we approach the new school year she is seeking help to provide durable school shoes for each of her children.

£150 needed for school uniforms

L is a single mother of five children who is currently reliant on benefits and struggling to meet household expenses. The school requires a specific uniform, available only through one supplier, making it difficult to manage the cost. While prioritising essential bills, she also needs to ensure her children are properly equipped for school. Financial assistance would ease significant stress and help ensure her children can attend school from the beginning of the academic year.

£200 needed for school uniforms

A lady and her husband are members of our church, and have three children. They’re finding it hard to ask for help. They are used to providing for their family. They’re trying to accept God’s provision from the wider church family and trust Him. More financial help would make a massive difference. Their financial difficulties are due to complex family circumstances and the rising cost of essentials. The uniform for starting a new school is expensive and the two older children have grown out of a few items.
