Frequently Asked Questions
What does my church/local charity need to do?
Your church or charity would first need to nominate a volunteer to be the Acts 435 Advocate, who would be the known contact for Acts 435. They just need some basic computer and admin experience, and a heart to serve. Once they're signed up they get our handbook and log in details to get started. We also run a monthly session online for those new to Acts 435, which they may find helpful.
What is the role of the Acts 435 Advocate?
The role of the Advocate is to post requests onto the Acts 435 website on behalf of those who are directly known to be in need through ministries their church might run such as a food bank, debt advice, community café, job club or toddler group, or through referring organisations such as the local school or Citizen’s Advice. Some have used Acts 435 as a way to start connecting with people in need, and others use it alongside other ministries they already run to meet the needs in their community.
Are there any costs involved?
No, the organisation and administration of Acts 435 is funded entirely by Gift Aid reclaimed on applicable donations. Therefore, there is no cost for the churches and charities who partner with us, and 100% of donations go towards the direct need of the applicant. However, we do ask that you commit to sharing your partnership with your church congregation and/or your supporters on social media.

What charities can partner with Acts 435?
As well as churches Acts 435 is able to partner with any local charities who have a registered charity number and a turnover of less than £5,000,000 per year. Although we are a Christian charity we know there are many charities who are doing incredible work in local communities, and therefore we partner with a variety of charities, including both faith-based and secular charities.
Can a group of churches partner with Acts 435?
Yes! We love to see churches coming together to collectively share the hope of Jesus and meet the practical needs in their community. This can also be a great option if you already run joint ministries, or if you want to share the administration tasks. We would need bank details of just one church for the payments to be sent to.
Are there any restrictions on who can be an Acts 435 Partner?
Acts 435 is intended to be a resource for UK churches and charities who want to do more in their work with local people in need, but who may be limited in their own financial circumstances. With that in mind, we are only able to partner with churches/charities who meet the following criteria:
- Have an annual turnover of £5,000,000 or less.
- Are based, and are exclusively operational, in the UK.
- Whose primary remit or purpose is not the same as Acts 435, i.e. fundraising or grant making.
We can partner with churches of any size or denomination.
What is a Key Partner church/charity?
Some organisations are recognised as Key Partners and are shown as a yellow pin on our map. These partners make more extensive use of Acts 435, and also make a commitment to an increased level of engagement to the mission of Acts 435. Further information will be provided on partnering with us.
