August Prayer Bulletin
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30
The summer can be a quieter time for us as a charity - our local Advocates often take a summer break, and therefore post less requests for help, and our staff take some well deserved rest too. However, there is still much need for prayer. We have much to thank God for, and also a lot to pray into with the continuing cost of living crisis.
Yesterday we launched our School Uniform Appeal to meet the need for school uniform and equipment for families who are struggling financially. Not only does this lift a burden from parents and carers, but also enables the children to go into school with dignity and confidence. Please do pray that we can see these needs met as quickly as possible in time for the new school year.
Firstly this month we are very thankful to God for:
Two charitable trusts who have given generously to our work over the last two weeks. This has enabled us to meet the needs of individuals more quickly than we otherwise would have been able to do.
The opportunity to be part of a prayer resource put together by Jubilee+ and alongside some other well known charities such as Christians Against Poverty and Welcome Churches.
An opportunity to partner with Church Action on Poverty and their Challenge Poverty week in October. Please pray for fruitful conversations, and that we can be a voice into this campaign.
The new donors who are continuing to find out about our work, mostly through their local church/charity or social media.
The 614 individuals and families who have been helped in July by Acts 435 Advocates and donors with £94,295 distributed to those who need it most. We were thankful to have been able to apply £15,000 from grant and trust funding this month, but £79,295 still came from individual donors giving towards the needs on our website.
Please join us in praying for:
The amount of time that requests are waiting to be met. Today the average number of days for a request to be met is 11, which means that urgent requests are not met as quickly as they could be. Please do pray for new donors to find out about our work, and for our regular donors to be prompted.
Our School Uniform Appeal. Please pray that we can meet many needs for school uniform, and other school equipment, before the new school year.
Our local partners, and their Advocates. Please pray that they will be able to have a break over the summer, and be able to rest.
Our local partners continue to be engage with us to spread the word about our work to potential donors, which we hope will enable us to meet the needs on our website more quickly.
As always, thank you for your prayers for these individuals, our Advocates and for Acts 435 as we seek to do more for those in need in the UK.
