Help clearing bed bugs

Finances have been tight for Becca*, a single mother who relies on Universal Credit, Child Benefit and Personal Independent Payments to live. She was just about managing to get by when suddenly, she discovered they had bed bugs in the house.

Becca* was already suffering with poor mental health, so having to move her kids out of their bedrooms caused increased anxiety. Her children’s routine was being interrupted as they struggled to sleep downstairs and Becca couldn’t see an end in sight. With an already stretched budget, she didn’t know whether she’d be able to afford to pay for the pest control to fumigate the house.

Thankfully a local church in the area heard about the situation and stepped in to help. They were able to place a request on the Acts 435 website and within a few days, Acts 435 donors had managed to raise most of the money needed to help out Becca and the children.

The children are now back in their bedrooms and life has returned to normal. Becca shared:

“Finding the bed bugs in my house was hard enough, but the stress of having to find the funds myself for the pest control made it even harder. However, because of these wonderful people who supported me with the funds, part of the weight was lifted off my shoulders as they were able to help me with 75% of the cost, when all of the other avenues explored would not help.

We have now been able to get back into our normal routine and my children are happy. I can now concentrate on my youngest’s health and well being.”

Small acts of generosity can often have a profound impact. A much needed helping hand, often provides a renewed sense of hope and lifts off the weight of stress and uncertainty.
