The gift of hope for the future
Thomas* poured everything he had into building his own company in 2014. From a rented home that doubled as his workshop and office, he worked to create stability for himself and his future. That sense of security was shattered in 2022 when he was evicted from his property - an eviction he firmly believes was unlawful. Since May 2023, Thomas has been homeless.

The strain of losing his home, alongside the ongoing legal battle, has taken a toll on his wellbeing. Each day is a challenge, not just practically, but emotionally too. Despite this, Thomas continues to fight for justice, and disputes his eviction. He travels across the city to access projects that offer practical support and a sense of connection, helping him protect his mental health during an incredibly isolating time. He spends hours in local libraries, using their warmth and quiet space to work on his case.
The local Advocate requested help with a bus pass for Thomas, particularly for longer journeys during bad weather, which would give him more stability and dignity at a time when so much else feels uncertain. On receiving his bus pass, Thomas said:
