Mr D is in hospital following a stroke which has affected his speech and cognition. He lives alone and is fiercely independent. He is no longer able to use a mobile phone and without a pendant alarm, he will have no means to call for help. This device has been identified as essential but costs are prohibitive and this is the only delay for his hospital discharge. A year's subscription will give time to find an alternative solution or further funding; we hope his health will improve!
