Restore (York) Limited

A is finally moving into his own home following a long history of housing instability and trauma. He grew up in a household affected by addiction and abuse and, as an adult, experienced years of sofa surfing and periods of street homelessness. He is moving into the property without the essential furniture needed to make it a home. A bed is an immediate priority so that A has a safe and appropriate place to sleep. Providing this would support his physical and emotional wellbeing.

V has been living at Restore and receiving support with their finances and housing. They have struggled with working long hours for a cleaning company and worked hard to pay off previous debts. Sadly their grandfather in Kenya passed away recently and V needs to travel there to be with family. V has saved the cost of the visa, flights and trains but is unable to cover their regular rent payments on top of this. This money would help ease the building pressure of rent payments during this time.

A has experienced significant childhood trauma, growing up in a home affected by addiction and violence. They have spent several years sofa-surfing, experiencing homelessness and living in supported accommodation. Despite considerable challenges, A has worked hard to rebuild their life and has recently moved into their own tenancy. We are requesting donations for a wardrobe and drawers so A can store their clothes and belongings properly and create a comfortable, organised bedroom.
