Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.
ZR, who is from Afghanistan, has a husband and three children who have been settled in their house in Colchester for one year. They are on Universal Credit and have engaged with Bridgeway Mission, who support them with food, furniture and social integration. Total needed £200P, who moved into our accommodation after a long stay in prison, has now been out of prison for three years, has become a Christian, is working part-time and has moved into his own accommodation. He has been working hard to get the items he needs to furnish his new home, but is in need of flooring. P would very much appreciate some money towards carpeting his living room, especially as he is now in contact with his daughters and would like them to visit his new home.

Total needed £200This girl visited our centre with her family. They are currently homeless, as they are fleeing danger and violence in their country. While the council provided housing for the parents and younger siblings, the two older girls were deemed non-vulnerable and received no assistance. We cannot bear to see these girls end up on the streets, especially considering their limited English and the trauma endured. We urgently need your assistance to house this girl in a bed and breakfast for four nights.

Total needed £200This young man has been referred to the St Vincent de Paul team after serving time in prison. Prior to his incarceration, he endured the loss of both parents, which has deeply affected him. Currently, this young man experiences sleep disturbances and frequent crying spells as he copes with his past traumas. We are seeking your support to provide him with bereavement counselling and to purchase a running kit, which has served as a source of solace for him amidst his grief.

Total needed £200This family regrettably missed an appointment with the Home Office, leading to the withdrawal of their asylum claim. Although the council offered housing for the parents and two younger siblings, the two older girls were considered non-vulnerable and did not receive assistance. It's distressing to envision these girls facing the prospect of homelessness. We urgently seek your help in providing housing for this young girl for four nights while the necessary steps are taken.

Total needed £200This young lady came to the St Vincent de Paul (SVP) centre in a precarious situation. She had to leave her husband, due to violence directed towards her and her children. The SVP team is actively supporting her and the children, making referrals to appropriate personnel. Additionally, mum has mobility issues and is currently confined to her home. We urgently request food support and a phone to allow her to make calls and for applications for support.

Total needed £200N has three young children and they have recently moved into a permanent property, having originally fled domestic violence. The property does not have carpets and mum would really appreciate your support in purchasing a child's bedroom carpet, especially as the youngest child is still a toddler and the bare floors aren't very safe. N, who is on Universal Credit, is unable to work, due to complex post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Many thanks for your support.
