J is a single parent who is waiting for her claim for disability benefits to be reviewed. She has a diagnosed personality disorder and is also agoraphobic. J receives Limited Capability For Work benefits and is awaiting her Personal Independence Plan decision. Due to her conditions, she spends a lot of money on transport for herself and her son. Her washing machine has broken and is past its warranty date. J tried to get it repaired, but the engineer told her that it is beyond repair.

The family are living in a three bedroom property and the youngest child, aged two, is sharing a bed.
