£0 remaining for bedding, three pairs of curtains and rods, pots and pans
Mum and her daughter, aged seven, have finally been offered a place to live in after many changes and struggles. They are now able to leave the hostel and have some stability. The local council has gifted a cooker and fridge, and furniture will be provided. However, they cannot move without three pairs of curtains and rods, bedding, pots and pans. Mum would greatly appreciate any help towards their needs.
This client was referred to us for support after they had been living in refugee accommodation over the last twelve months. They have now got a job and are slowly, but surely, managing to integrate into the local community after having to flee their own country, due to war. They have been offered a new flat, however, they are struggling to afford furniture to make their house a home. This support for couches would enable the client to finish furnishing their living room and finally be able to have a fresh start.
RA is a twenty five year old Christian who has fled Iran and is seeking asylum in the UK. His solicitor believes that the grounds for refusal of asylum are mistaken, but an appeal will cost £350. Asylum seekers cannot work and RA lives on £48 per week in a hostel in Liverpool. His church can raise half the sum needed but Acts 435 is asking for donations to match that sum. Before RA fled Iran, he was imprisoned and experienced harsh treatment. Return to Iran would endanger his life, as he can't renounce his faith.
S is a refugee who has been living in Lancaster for a while. He has been going through very difficult times which have affected his mental health and his ability to work and learn. Through encouragement and support, he now wants to take the first steps to look after himself and achieve additional certificates in order to find a job. For S to access online courses and learning, he would hugely benefit from having a tablet. Thank you for any help you might be able to give.
