£0 remaining for a cooker
Our beneficiary is a young mother who battles with mental health issues. She has two children under ten years of age, who have health issues. This is making it difficult for them to access the mainstream classroom, thus causing additional stress in her everyday life. The family are in need of a cooker to enable a good range of nutritional meals to be cooked. They are on Universal Credit and Disability Living Allowance, so once the bills are paid, have limited funds to cover unexpected expenses. Please can you help?
A, who has two children, aged twelve and fourteen, is caring for her mum who is recovering from ovarian cancer. The eldest has a diagnosis of attention deficit disorder (ADD) and is having daily nosebleeds, and the youngest has speech dyspraxia and autism. A became homeless last year and was placed in a house with mould. It is taking four days to dry clothes, due to not being able to put the heating on for health. A is in receipt of Universal Credit, Carers Allowance and Disability Living Allowance (for the children). We are requesting support for a tumble dryer for this family.
P, who regularly attends the warm space, has been in a private tenancy flat for a number of years and has now been given notice by the landlord. He is unable to work, due to health conditions, and is on disability benefits. The local authority has found P a flat, but he needs a cooker which will need to be delivered and installed. His tenancy will commence in two week's time.
Having just been given the tenancy of a local authority flat, P, who attends our warm space, is on Personal Independence Payment benefit. There are no floor coverings in the new flat and the floors are concrete. P would like to have a carpet fitted to the living room floor. He will use rugs that he already has on the other floors.
