Taking away the dread of buying uniforms

Sophie* is a single mum to three children, she works part time and has done so since she had the children. She lives in a private rented house and the rent takes up a lot of her wage. She gets some support through Universal Credit and she is on the council waiting list but because she has a house she is not a priority. Sophie said she feels ashamed that she cannot afford to buy the children new school uniforms. She had already had some pieces handed down but the previous year's uniforms were too small, and very badly worn.

The local Acts 435, in conversation with Sophie, noticed this need, and was able to post a request onto the Acts 435 website, for donors to support.

Sophie was so grateful when the request was fulfilled, and the Advocate helped her to purchase the much-needed uniform. Sophie said, to those who ave towards her need:

I am so happy that my children will be starting the new year at school in new uniforms, I will feel so proud of them and that is all down to you and the way you have helped me. The stress of buying the uniforms when you have no money is immense and the feeling of dread as the days tick by is overwhelming. But thanks to you all that has gone and I can enjoy the rest of the holidays knowing the uniforms are hanging in the wardrobe and ready to be worn, thank you so very much for helping me.
