R is a mum of one who has been living in temp accommodation since last year due to her landlord selling the house. She has recently been rehoused to a council flat. The flat is unfurnished and she has no cooking facilities, she is unable to move in until she has a cooker. Shelter have been able to help with the other items, however they're unable to source a cooker. She receives Universal Credit but after paying for the other items for her flat she doesn't have enough for a cooker.

S is a lady in her 20s, a mum of one and currently pregnant due in July. Her washing machine has broken and she is unable to purchase another. Shes been hand washing her clothes as the walk to launderette has become difficult as her pregnancy has progressed. She has recently moved into the house and due to overlapping rent shes currently paying off arrears. She receives Universal Credit but due to the move and arrears shes struggling to make ends meet and prepare for the baby, the washer is an expense she can't afford.
