Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.
B has been advised by Christians Against Poverty that in order to deal with her debts, she needs a Debt Relief Order. She is looking for work, but at the moment she is reliant on Universal Credit and on a very tight budget. B can only afford to save 11 pence a month towards her Debt Relief Order fees of £90 and with winter coming there is the choice between food or heating. Help from donors would enable a fresh start in 2024.
Still £90 left to donate
Total needed £90S is a long-standing member of our local community who had a period recently when he wasn't receiving housing benefit. As a result, he has got behind with his rent and needs to organise payment of his rent arrears to avoid becoming homeless. The advocacy team at Lodge Road Community Church have helped him sort out his benefits, going forwards, but unfortunately don't have the funds to pay off the money he owes. S is hopeful that donations through Acts 435 will help his situation.
Still £180 left to donate
Total needed £200R is good with his hands and very capable with electrics. He has learnt 'on the job' and has survived on cash-in-hand payments for years. However, modern times dictate that earning a living this way leads to financial hardship. R now wants to pass his eighteenth edition wiring regulations so that he can get a start with a company that will continue his continuing professional development (CPD) in-house, as he builds a career that will be a life changer. At present R is struggling and all he wants is the chance to earn a decent living.
Still £175 left to donate
Total needed £200D is a valued member of our local community who receives Universal Credit and works part-time, running the Golden Ages group and roller-skating lessons for adults and children at Lodge Road Community Church. Unfortunately, he is currently in great hardship, escalated due to his car becoming completely unroadworthy and, as a result, he has got behind with his Council Tax payments. This has become a great financial strain for D, so donations towards this debt would really help relieve this pressure.
Still £200 left to donate
Total needed £200T, who we started working with in the summer, has been out of work for nearly a year, due to a severe knee injury, and her mental health has been very low. She built up debt and felt overwhelmed, but is in a better place now, and is paying her ongoing bills and managing well. T's mental health is also more stable and she has just found out that she is expecting a baby! However, she needs to go through a Debt Relief Order to clear the debt and have a fresh start for her and her baby. Please can you help her?
