Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

S, who suffers from depression and has recently moved to the area to be nearer family and friends, has a one year old son and is currently pregnant. She receives Universal Credit, but has large debts which are leaving her struggling to cover her general living costs. Unfortunately, her fridge freezer has broken down, making it difficult for her to store fresh and frozen food, and there is no way she can afford to replace it herself. S would be very grateful for your help.

Total needed £175This gentleman, who is in a very desperate situation, is being pursued by debt collection agencies for a chronic debt. He has agreed to commence payment, but the impact of this is that he is now experiencing food insecurity and is desperate for help. £200 would allow us to pay off part of his debt as part of his payment plan. This will allow him to reduce his payments so that he can manage his daily outgoings. He is going to start working with our Christians Against Poverty advisor for further help and support.

She works during school hours so she can be home for her children, and saves money by walking everywhere. She is currently pregnant with her second child and her first child is fourteen months old. D is really struggling to be able to access the benefits that she is entitled to, due to a lack of ID. Total needed £100M, a client of ours who is actively working with Crosslight to get his debts in check, has two part-time jobs and is dad to three teenage children. The children had two laptops, but both of them have stopped working and, as a result, the children have to stay late at school to do their homework. We are applying for your support with £200 to cover the cost of a laptop for them to share and a contribution towards the new software they will require for it.

Total needed £175J is 62 with disabilities; she is medically retired and working with us to get help with her rent arrears. She had been living with her father until he passed away in 2021. The council moved her to a smaller property, but she wasn’t given any help with benefits nor claiming the benefits she was entitled to. We are helping her get the benefits she is entitled to in place. A donation would help her pay for food and utilities whilst we do this, as she has been going without food to pay bills.

Total needed £200This single, 57 year old Christians Against Poverty client lives alone in his home, mortgage free. M is currently unable to work due to his severe anxiety and depression. Total needed £95M lives with her husband; they both have health problems and are living on benefits. They receive Universal Credit and she gets Personal Independence Payments. Total needed £200Our clients live in a damp bungalow with mould growing freely in all rooms. Their landlord took over a year to instigate remedial work. This was due to start about a week ago, but the contractor has lost it's qualified staff. Trying to dry clothing on radiators exacerbates the moisture in the air and thus the mould. The radiator in the hall can't be used as it would leak and depressurise the central heating system. A condenser tumble dryer would be a huge blessing to them, but they can't afford to buy one for themselves. Your help would be much appreciated.

Total needed £70N has been through a very turbulent time with unfortunately suffering an infestation of rats. She and her two children had to move into temporary accommodation whilst the landlord fixed the problem, although N had to contribute to the costs. N has heart failure having had 3 cardiac arrests. She is on Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payments. The rats had got in via a disused drain and have destroyed the daughter's bed, storage, chest of drawers, clothing, everything in that room, where they have chewed through and left excrement and urine everywhere.

Total needed £200M is an older lady who works part time and is in receipt of Universal Credit. Due to mobility issues she had to reduce her working hours. She has been in very unsuitable unfurnished temporary accommodation for a number of years but has now been offered the opportunity to move to sheltered housing. She will need to buy white goods and other furniture but has no savings and is also burdened with overdrafts and credit card debt. Can you help M to purchase some essentials for her new home?

Total needed £200N has had a tough year and recently was in a nasty car accident and the fallout has meant that she has no money until December. She urgently needs to pay a £100 utility bill- if she doesn't, the arrangement she was on where they match her payments will fail and she will be in major financial problems. She also desperately needs new glasses and even with her benefits she isn't going to be able to afford them and she is stressed at not being able to see. These cost £80. Please can we help?

Total needed £180Our beneficiary is a young mother with two children under six years, who is struggling to pay off historic debts whilst trying to keep up with current bills. She is on a low income and receives Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment. The family is being supported by Family Solutions. The current cooker is more than 15 years old and beyond repair. We would like to raise funds towards making a proper functioning cooker a reality, so that the family can have a wider range of dishes.

Total needed £200G is about to be discharged from hospital and has nowhere to go. His relationship has broken down and he has been evicted from his home. We are hoping the Council will be able to house him in temporary accommodation as soon as possible. Citizens Advice are doing what they can to help as he has a number of debts and has just been hit with a huge tax bill, so has no money to buy food. Could you please consider supporting this gentleman with a voucher towards food, drink and toiletries? Thank you.
