£0 remaining for blinds for new home
R was homeless and came to our winter shelter in March'23. Over the following months we supported him to ensure he was considered by the council for a tenancy. We were delighted that R got offered a flat last month. The flat is on ground level and without blinds or curtains, therefore lacks any privacy. He is feeling vulnerable and very nervous about moving into a flat like this and asked for help to buy blinds for the front windows. R is still receiving support from us and is on benefits.
A came to Glasgow in May 2024 and spent nine months in temporary hotel accommodation, which was challenging for his mental health. He now finally has a new flat and feels blessed that it is in good condition, but it has no flooring at all and A's income is very low (around £80 per week). He would love to carpet at least one room for warmth and comfort, and would be very grateful for any help you could give.
M is originally from Sudan and, after a long period of homelessness and temporary accommodation, has recently been given a permanent tenancy. He is proactive, is learning English and recently made a CV to help him find work. Currently, M's income is low and he cannot afford to wash his clothes regularly. With fewer charities doing laundry for free, and the cost of a laundrette rising significantly, having a washing machine in his flat would help lift a significant financial burden.
