£0 remaining for blinds for a new tenancy
S arrived at our night shelter just before Christmas when his friend evicted him from sleeping on his sofa. He spent two weeks with us before being offered emergency accommodation, and in January he was offered his own flat. S moved in two weeks ago and we have been helping with second-hand furniture and kitchen equipment. None of his windows are covered, so they can't be darkened, and people look in. The quote to supply and fit blinds for one double and two single windows is £160, but as S is on benefits, he cannot afford the cost. Please can you help?
A has been attending Glasgow City Mission for nine months and participated in many of our community activities, including college classes and Bible studies. He also serves other guests through our Guest Trainee programme. A has just moved into his first permanent home having been granted asylum, but it was completely bare and unfurnished. He has managed to decorate and furnish with basic items, but would love carpets to make things more homely. A would be hugely grateful of any support he receives.
K has severe post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), due to previous trauma in her life. She also has acute struggles with her mental health and suffers from poor mobility. K lives alone with her three cats and spends a lot of time indoors, which exacerbates her mental health struggles. She desperately needs new flooring for her bathroom, as currently it is damaged and not fit for purpose. K has taken positive steps in the last few months and has even started going to church, with help from a friend, which has been so positive for her.
R, who left supported accommodation in September 2024, has worked hard to make a home for himself in his new flat. He has managed to get a cooker, but has been without a washing machine for a long time and is currently having to ask his neighbour to help him. R would love to get his own washing machine. He is working hard at his recovery from addiction and has been engaging with our support groups over the last year. Being able to get the washing machine would be a huge boost for him.
