£0 remaining for an electric cooker
K is one of our community's treasured unpaid volunteers, who runs all the arts and crafts across our four hubs. She has created amazing art projects in the community, involving people with special needs, substance misuse users and children's groups. K recently had a gas check within her rented accommodation and her cooker was condemned and removed. She is now without any cooking facilities and is a mother to a twelve year old son who has special needs. We would love to help her buy a new electric cooker.
This couple, who have a complex array of disabilities and medical conditions, are unable to work and are dependent on benefits. A decision on Personal Independence Payment entitlement is awaited. This couple have to travel over thirty miles by public transport to get to specialist hospitals for treatment. They are paying off rent arrears, have limited financial resources and we have provided Food Bank support. They need a washing machine and, with your kind donations, we want to help them.
R has been living in shared accommodation for over seven years after splitting from his family. This was problematic, as his ten year old son could never stay with him, due to the risk posed by the other tenants. R has now been given his first home by Birmingham City Council, which means he can have his son to stay with him at weekends. However, he does not have a cooker. R would like to apply for donations from Acts 435 to buy a cooker so that he can cook meals for himself and his son, when he stays.
H has just received temporary accommodation from Birmingham City Council, after spending years in various hostels. She has an eight year old child and is in the process of applying for leave to remain under the immigration service. This is being supported by the local Children's Authority. H has been given a flat which is partially furnished, but does not have a washing machine. We would be really grateful if Acts 435 could fund a washing machine for her.
