£0 remaining for food
This young mother came to the St Vincent de Paul centre after fleeing domestic violence. She is now back in her home, but fears encountering her perpetrator. We request support for a weekly food delivery for six weeks, and assistance in connecting her with agencies that can help her through her domestic violence situation. We are collaborating with appropriate personnel to ensure she receives the necessary support.
S, who was made homeless, due to a relationship breakdown, received support from a local charity, Beacon House, and has been referred to Colchester Engagement and Next steps for temporary accommodation. Since then, S has strived to rebuild her life and has been given the opportunity to live independently in sheltered accommodation. She is aware of the current cost of living crisis and is looking to reduce her heating costs in the future to manage her bills. Money towards a carpet would be most beneficial.
P lives alone and worked hard as a roofer for many years, which he loved. Sadly, he had a fall at work and has been unable to work since then, due to long-term injuries. Last month his boiler stopped working and he cannot afford to have it repaired. P is currently boiling his kettle numerous times just to fill his bath a few inches. As the colder months are approaching, his situation becomes more desperate. Your donation could be what makes a difference in keeping P warm this winter.
A is a single mother battling with serious health conditions, as is one of her children. Mum has just completed payments on her individual voluntary Arrangement (IVA), which has kept the family very short for the last few years. She needs a little more help to get on top of her budgeting and pay her electricity bill.
