£0 remaining for accommodation and food
This young woman, who has come to us from marital abuse, has been assaulted. The centre immediately registered her up for our local domestic violence initiative, Aspirations, and gave her food and clothes. She is engaging well, given the incredibly difficult conditions she finds herself in. Our intention is to provide a three-night stay as a temporary solution while this young woman makes connections with neighbourhood agencies that could offer continued support and, ideally, a covert housing transition.
X is a single mum with four children who suffers with a blood clotting disorder and is awaiting an appointment with the vascular consultant, regarding limb amputation. She has a budget with Christians Against Poverty that is helping her regain control of her finances. Recently her washing machine has broken, which is very inconvenient with a big family and limited mobility. X doesn't have any savings yet and we are asking for financial help towards buying a new washing machine.
M, a single mum of three children, has been working with us concerning her debts and we have managed to secure a Debt Relief Order so she can now have a fresh start. However, mum has been renting a cooker which is really not cost effective, and the hire company are now taking it back which means she could be left without cooking facilities over the Christmas period. We would love to purchase a cooker for M so that she can look forward to Christmas with her girls and truly have a good start to the new year.
Our client, who has just come out of hospital after being in a coma, had sepsis and pneumonia which have been as a result of his living conditions and other health issues. He has lived without heating in a room in the same house as his landlord, and has no cooking facilities apart from a kettle and a microwave. Our client doesn't have hot water to his room, so has to boil a kettle. We have worked hard to get him the support that he needs and are hopeful that he will relocate to supported living.
