£0 remaining for a monthly travel card (Zone 1-4)
This lady is an asylum-seeker who has recently arrived in the UK following persecution in her home country. She has moved in with a volunteer host who lives in Zone 4. Her church networks, volunteering and English classes are in Zone 1, so we are seeking a contribution towards a travel card that will help her to stay connected with the small Christian support network she has developed since arriving in the country. This is important for her mental wellbeing.
M is a teenager who came to the UK as an unaccompanied child and is currently appealing against a rejection of his asylum claim. He has just been placed in a hotel in west London, but is not receiving any financial support. To progress his appeal, M needs to communicate with his solicitor in south London, and for his mental health, it is important that he keeps in touch with the few friends he has made in London. To be able to make phone calls and to use buses would make a huge difference to M.
S, who has been waiting over two years for his refugee status, has been unable to work or claim benefits this whole time. His mental health is severe which means he struggles to get involved in many activities, and has very little money to support him day to day. S relies on charities and his volunteer host to help him when they can. He has asked for some help with joining a gym for three months, which will give him some independence and help to improve his mental health.
This single, highly vulnerable mother, who has severe post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), fled Syria with her baby, as her life was in danger. She has no support in the UK and her mother is currently in ICU in Syria. Mum has been given a flat and is so grateful for her safety, however, the flat is on the ground floor on a council estate and has cardboard taped to all the windows for privacy. She is not financially stable and can't afford curtains and rails. The flat is very dark and mum cannot afford to keep the lights on. Can you please help?
