E, a recovering heroin addict who has managed to get her son back, has found a Housing Association flat after a period of homelessness. Her only income is Universal Credit and she has no savings. The new flat has no carpets and E is having issues with poor soundproofing and a neighbour harassing her. Carpeting the flat will make a huge difference to E and we have an offer of free carpets! L, who is twenty one years old, has just moved into her first property. She claims Universal Credits, has no savings and has been struggling to afford the main essentials for her house. L has been sleeping on the floor, as she has no bed, even though there is no flooring throughout the house. Mum has severe anxiety and depression, following the murder of her sister. She has lived in her house for over two years and has no carpets down. Her home is cold, damp and unsafe for her children.
