Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.
C is in her late fifties, and has been suffering from back pain for many years which has effected her mobility. She recently was rushed into A&E and was admitted straight into hospital as her condition escalated. She has been diagnosed with severe scoliosis as well as spinal disc disfiguration and misalignment in her lower spine causing her pain and discomfort. The surgeon advised that she must purchase a orthopaedic mattress to relieve the discomfort and pain she experiences 24 hours a day.

Total needed £200Mum, who is in her mid twenties, is raising her two year old son alone. She is isolated in the UK, previously being street homeless, and has no older relatives in the UK that can support her. Mum's son has a number of physical and learning disabilities and the family receives less than its benefit entitlement, due to immigration status. They live in hostel accommodation and find it very difficult to eat on the sofa. Mum would love a small table and chairs to help make things easier at meal times.

Total needed £200I had a chat with this client yesterday and she told me she has some health issues which are being impacted by not having a bed. In fact, she has not had a bed to sleep on for fourteen years, just an old mattress at times. Our client has recently been moved into new accommodation, due to domestic violence, and would love to start afresh with somewhere comfortable to sleep to improve her wellbeing. She is in receipt of Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment, so cannot afford a replacement. Thank you for considering this request.

In fact, fourteen years she has slept on an old mattress or none at all. She has recently been moved into new accommodation, due to domestic violence, and would love to start afresh with somewhere comfortable to sleep to improve her wellbeing. As our client is in receipt of Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment, she has no money to put towards a replacement mattress. Thank you for considering this request.

Total needed £190I had a lovely chat with this client who was placed in temporary accommodation in early 2022. Her case was overlooked and she was deemed as not a housing need, eventually becoming homeless. In 2024, our client was picked up by Streetlink and placed in St Mungo's for a week. She was then moved to a winter shelter which was not suitable for her medical needs. This lady has finally found suitable housing, but is in need of a furniture and white goods. She said a washing machine would be wonderful. Thank you.

Total needed £200J lived with his wife and children until the relationship broke down. For ten years he sofa-surfed, slept rough and rode night buses. He was referred to the rough sleepers team in 2022, was placed in temporary accommodation and now has permanent secure housing. Previously, a working independent man, he now has a medical condition which has left him unable to work. A fridge freezer would enable J to eat more healthily and better manage his limited income of Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment.
