Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

This refugee family from Afghanistan has been given accommodation in Leeds, following a successful application for leave to remain, but the house is empty of any appliances or furniture. As they are not yet working, the family asks for help with £200 to purchase a used fridge freezer and delivery. This would make it possible for them to not shop every day, and reduce the risk of illness, due to no proper storage. Please can you help them in their quest to settle well?

Total needed £200We are working with a local school to support a mum of two who is in both financial hardship and emotionally challenging circumstances. Mum is struggling to make her money cover her needs and is shopping at our community grocery. Her washing has broken and she doesn't have the money to replace it. Your support will make a big difference in enabling her to wash the family's clothing.

Total needed £200S, a single parent who is struggling with the cost of living, is unable to work, due to ill health. Her fridge broke a few months ago, leaving her unable to safely store food. Consequently, a lot of her food goes off and she is having to spend more money on ready meals, as she can’t store food. Any support in getting a new fridge would save S in food costs each week. We've supported her with emergency fuel top-ups and food parcels.

Total needed £200This lady has two grandchildren in her care and has not managed to secure any further financial support/benefits. She is claiming Employment and Support Allowance and Personal Independence Payment, but is struggling to pay her bills and with the increase in food costs. This grandmother is currently sleeping on a mattress with springs coming through and is getting hardly any sleep throughout the night. This lady would be extremely grateful for funding for a new mattress so that she can get a good night's sleep ready to support her grandchildren each morning.
Still £70 left to donate
Total needed £70N has recently moved into a new home with her two children, but the space is unfurnished. While she receives Universal Credit, the rising cost of living has made it difficult for her to afford essential household items. Your generous support would help her family make their new house a home, providing stability and comfort as they settle in. Any contribution will go a long way in easing N's burden, and helping her to create a safe, welcoming environment for her children.

Total needed £200D has been in temporary accommodation, but has managed to secure a social housing property of his own. The flat is unfurnished however, and D has no savings and a very low income, so can't afford to purchase much himself. His most urgent need is for a cooker so that he can cook and eat proper meals, rather than having to live on cold food. This will help him to make a good start in his new tenancy.
Still £150 left to donate
Total needed £150Mr H is a refugee living with his wife and child. He is working hard to create a stable life for his family, but they are currently only receiving Universal Credit. With the rising cost of living and limited financial resources, they are struggling to afford essential household items like a washing machine. This appliance would greatly improve their daily lives, providing a much-needed solution for their family's hygiene and well-being.

Total needed £200P suffers with mental health problems and has been unfit for work for over four years. After spending time in supported accommodation, P and her two young children have now moved into their own property. Mum has little to furnish and equip her home, and would be grateful for help to buy a washing machine. She receives Universal Credit, but is struggling to meet her everyday living costs so there is no way she could afford this herself. Your support would be a real blessing for P and her family.

Total needed £200S has just completed her rehabilitation programme from severe addictions, as a result of trauma. She is still living with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and physical health issues. S, who has no family support, has moved from a city to get a fresh start and is hoping for a better life. She has found a flat but, at the moment, doesn't have anything. S really needs a fridge freezer so that she can store food and cook properly. This would be a great start for her in her new life. Please can we help?

Total needed £200Our client has been living in a house of multiple occupancy for six years. He is unable to work, due to an elbow repair and knee surgery. A planned hernia repair was deferred, due to heart condition. This client socialises little and his main external contact is with his twelve year old son, who lives with ex-wife and visits dad each school holiday. Anything left in the shared kitchen disappears. Dad is currently being helped by a financial advisor at Foodbank. A fridge freezer to replace his small fridge would give him more food space, perhaps encouraging him to mix more, and help his mental health.
Still £190 left to donate
Total needed £190This mum and her young toddler have moved into a new flat and need a cooker to be able to prepare healthy meals for them both. They previously lived with family, but had to break the home up due to dad’s dementia. Mum suffers from severe anxiety and is keen to move in as soon as she has the essentials needed. Her only income is Universal Credit, and any help with obtaining a cooker would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Total needed £200This gentleman lives alone and has been without a cooker for over a year. He is routinely skipping meals and relying on pre-packaged food. He has long term health conditions which mean he is unable to work. We are helping this gentleman to apply for the additional benefits he is entitled to. However, at the moment he does not have the funds for a cooker and his health is worsening, due to the lack of nutrition. We would like to set up a weekly food parcel; however, he needs a cooker to make use of the supplies.

Total needed £200This gentleman moved into a new bungalow two years ago, but hasn't been able to afford a bed to sleep on. He is on low benefits, but owes an increasing amount of his money which is being taken by a drug dealer to pay off his debt. This gentleman is now drug free, but needs to clear the debt as soon as possible before he gets drawn back into he world he doesn't want to be in. Can you help him by donating towards a bed and mattress?

Total needed £200This applicant, who split with his partner during Covid, ended up homeless and was put in a hostel, but has now been given a very small flat. He is currently searching for a job and using food banks. This applicant only has a bed, a freezer and a chair, but needs an undercounter fridge to help him with having fresh foods. He would also be very grateful for a wardrobe or chest of drawers. We will be sourcing these items second-hand and any remaining funds will be used for other essential items for him.
