Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.
J, who had been in temporary accommodation, having been homeless, was doing really well and was supported into his own accommodation. However, he then lost his job, was unable to keep up with the rent and ended up back in a hostel. J is now being supported back into new accommodation, but it doesn't have a washing machine. He is very independent and is trying to get back on track with his life. Having clean clothes will make a huge difference to J.

She receives support from Change Grow Live (CGL) and we have worked with Kirklees Housing to manage her previous rent arrears. Total needed £170This man recently lost his wife and is trying his best to bring up three children, aged eight, ten and twelve, alone. He suffers severely with his mental health and is agoraphobic. Their council property is very damp and this has ruined the beds and carpets. Some of the damp issues are now resolved and they need three single mattresses and a lounge carpet. Total needed £200This couple, who are both working as carers on minimum wages, have four children so have to plan shifts to cover both work and childcare. This means that there are times when one of them can't take work so they struggle financially. Their freezer had broken down and they have lost all the food in it. This was a second-hand freezer and it is now beyond repair. They like to batch cook and freeze, as this saves money and time, so would really benefit from help to get a replacement freezer.

Total needed £200Our client is currently on long term sick, due to her medical conditions, including fibromyalgia and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. She owns her property and has issues with penetrating damp. The costs of the works, in addition to the cost of scaffolding, is unobtainable for our client as she is reliant on benefits, due to her health conditions. A dehumidifier would help to combat the high humidity which is exacerbating her health conditions and help her to maintain a healthy living environment.
