Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

R has been living in shared accommodation for over seven years after splitting from his family. This was problematic, as his ten year old son could never stay with him, due to the risk posed by the other tenants. R has now been given his first home by Birmingham City Council, which means he can have his son to stay with him at weekends. However, he does not have a cooker. R would like to apply for donations from Acts 435 to buy a cooker so that he can cook meals for himself and his son, when he stays.

Total needed £200Our client, a single parent from China who is living in Sussex and struggling with the English language, is currently having treatment for breast cancer. Mum is currently experiencing sever difficulties with damp in her house. She has tried opening windows all day and all night, but it is not helping. The landlord blames her, but she believes the damp is coming from the outside in. The mould is starting to get into her and her son's clothes and private possessions, and mum is worried about their lungs.

Total needed £150S is thirty one years of age and lives with his partner and four children. They recently found out they are expecting another baby which is due in early May. This is a unexpected surprise for them and they are very happy to welcome the new addition to the family. After they had the last baby, they thought the family was complete and gave away the baby items to a charity supporting new mums. S has recently lost his job and the family are surviving on benefits. Please can you help this lovely family to buy a cot and Moses basket, some bedding and baby clothes?

Total needed £200S and his partner have recently found out they expecting a new baby soon, which has come as a big shock to them, as they already have four children and thought their family was complete. S really struggled when he approached us for help, as he recently lost his job and cannot provide for his family currently. He is constantly applying for new jobs, but nothing has come up yet. The family has nothing ready for the baby, as there is nothing left out of the benefits, once the bills have been paid.

Total needed £200This Syrian asylum-seeking family has been moved to Leeds and the parent asks for £120 to purchase a school uniform for her child who has been given a school place. The school colour requirements are unusual, so not easily purchased, and the costs are high. Mum asks for funds to purchase the uniform items online. As mum has other children awaiting school places, the cost for this will be extremely difficult for her to reach on her limited benefit. Please can you help the child to have a good start in school?

Total needed £120K is a single mum who lives with her partner. Her eldest son lived with his father until last week when he went missing. The police found him and the boy stated that his father had beaten him, which was confirmed by the police. K thought that the father had custody of the boy, but the police and Social Services said there was no evidence. Mum now has custody, but the boy is not allowed to attend school and is still pronounced missing for safety reasons. He only has the clothes he came in. Please can you help him?

Total needed £100Could you help a family and their six children, including a newborn baby, whose washing machine has broken. The machine was over ten years old and is not repairable. They were washing multiple loads per day and are struggling to manage without it. The family are able to contribute towards a new machine and fit it themselves, but would be very grateful for financial support to cover the remaining amount. This help would relieve pressure on this family, who are already stretched and under a lot of stress.

Total needed £135You have recently helped this mother, who lives in Merthyr Tydfil, by donating money towards two toddler beds, for which she is extremely grateful. Unfortunately, her tumble dryer has now broken and she is desperate for a replacement so that she can dry the children's clothes. Mum has four children, aged between two and eight years old, one of whom suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This lady is also a full-time carer for her own mother, even though she herself suffers severely from depression, for which she is taking medicine prescribed by the doctor.

Total needed £200This lady is currently working with Social Services to, hopefully, take her grandchildren into her care, as her daughter is in a bad way. Social Workers are supportive of this, but a house inspection is due, and this lady is concerned that she has inadequate floor coverings in her kitchen, if there are to be young children in the house. She only receive Carers Allowance, as she cares for her autistic son, so money is tight, but this lady has been saving all she can to prepare for the children's arrival.

Total needed £150E, a single mum with a four year old son, is in the process of being diagnosed with Autism. She looks after her son full-time and, due to his high level of need, is unable to work. The family are in need of a new fridge freezer, as their current one is old and no longer works properly. Mum relies on benefits and doesn't have any spare money to buy a replacement. E would love some help to be able to purchase this much needed kitchen appliance.

Total needed £200A is struggling financially and currently awaiting benefits so has very limited income. We have been able to support the family with a food parcel, but one of the children is autistic and very particular about which foods he will eat. As such, the food parcel we are able to offer is not really suitable for him. This money would allow A to buy the foods he will eat and help until their benefits are paid again.

Total needed £75H is a divorced mother of two young boys and they currently survive on benefits. Mum was working, but when her youngest son became ill, she had to stop work to care for him. During this time, the house that they had lived in for twelve years was taken from them under a Section 21 eviction notice. They lived in temporary housing for three months, but now have a permanent home which they need to furnish. The bunk beds and mattresses are needed as soon as possible, as the boys don't currently have their own beds.
