Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

O is a single mother who has a disabled son and they recently travelled to another city for specialised medical care. While her son is recovering from the surgery, the family is facing financial strain as they solely rely on benefits and most of their resources have been allocated to medical expenses. Your support with electric and gas bills would provide much needed relief to this resilient family, allowing O to focus on her son's recovery without the added burden of financial worry.

Total needed £200This young woman recently obtained a council flat and the existing floor coverings are effectively non-existent. She was made redundant before Christmas and is trying to find full-time employment, but has only currently managed to find part-time work and has a benefit claim pending. Whilst floor coverings are being supplied to her, this young woman cannot afford to have them fitted. Your help in funding this would make a huge difference to her and transform where she lives. Thank you.

Total needed £110M and her children were living with her family, but fled their home, due to familial conflict and honour-based abuse. They were staying in temporary accommodation, but have now secured more permanent housing. They don't have a washing machine, which means keeping their clothing and bedding clean, and involves regular time-consuming and costly trips to the launderette. M is already struggling financially, as the sole carer for her children, and living independently for the first time.

Total needed £200F and her husband were asylum seekers who have recently been granted leave to remain. This means they have to leave their temporary accommodation immediately. They have secured a Social Housing flat, but it is unfurnished. F and her husband have been supported with a bed and cooker, but there is no washing machine. F has extreme obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) so not being able to keep her clothes and bedding clean is particularly difficult. As asylum seekers, they weren't allowed to work, so they have very little financially.

Total needed £200M was homeless following significant trauma which led to an alcohol addiction. She has been supported into accommodation, has been alcohol free for six months, and started volunteering at a local community project. M is shortly going back into education to work towards becoming a support worker. Her flat doesn't have a fridge freezer and she has a low income so can't afford one. Your support would mean M could store food safely, enabling her to shop and eat more healthily and affordably.

Total needed £200Our client has been without a gas oven for over a year, due to a gas leak. The family of four are living on a low income, due to them having caring responsibilities. This leaves their budget fully stretched and has meant that they have been unable to purchase a replacement. They have been solely using their microwave to cook any hot food, leaving them unable to batch cook meals, which will help to reduce their weekly grocery spend.

Total needed £200This Syrian asylum-seeking family has been moved to Leeds and the parent asks for £120 to purchase a school uniform for her child who has been given a school place. The school colour requirements are unusual, so not easily purchased, and the costs are high. Mum asks for funds to purchase the uniform items online. As mum has other children awaiting school places, the cost for this will be extremely difficult for her to reach on her limited benefit. Please can you help the child to have a good start in school?

Total needed £200V was homeless and, after a time in supported accommodation, recently gained his own council tenancy. In order to keep busy and help his mental health, he has given his time each week to help a local charity complete maintenance work for at least ten hours a week. V uses his van to allow him to do this, and also to give him freedom to get out of the house and connect with the local community. In order to continue giving something back to society, V needs £200 towards a larger bill for his van repair.
