Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.
O and her fifteen year old daughter moved to the UK from the Ukraine when it became unsafe to stay. Her husband and other family have remained in the Ukraine. Mum and her daughter were first housed through the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, but moved into their own unfurnished, rented flat, two months ago. O works as a cleaner, and is also receiving Universal Credit, but money is tight. She would be really grateful for a vacuum cleaner to keep the flat tidy.

Total needed £100Our client came to the UK from Bangladesh to join her husband. She was subjected to verbal, physical and sexual abuse from her husband and his mother, and treated as a domestic slave. A family friend reported this to the police and our client was removed from the house and the perpetrators were arrested. She was moved to another county for her safety and lived in a refuge until she was ready to live independently. Our client has now moved into her own tenancy and needs help towards the cost of a washing machine

Total needed £175A, who has three children, aged fourteen, seven and five, recently found out that she is pregnant, but has faced complications that have left her unable to walk for a while, resulting in two hospital stays. This situation has affected A's mental health, and she has also fallen behind on her electricity bill, adding to her stress. She would greatly benefit from assistance with her outstanding electricity bill, allowing her to save money for summer activities for the children, and gradually prepare for the new baby.

Total needed £170Our client has had debilitating epilepsy and also back and limb pain for several years. They suffer from anxiety, due to the risk of seizures which they experience daily. Our client also has kidney failure and has had heart attacks which have left them fatigued. They rely on carers to help them with cooking, general household tasks and looking after their child. Our client's existing bed and mattress are low, old and difficult to get in and out of. A higher one would lower the stress on their back.

Total needed £200Our client, B, has been homeless for several years, but has now been given a council flat, but the flat is unfurnished and she needs various items: a fridge, rugs for the bare floors, curtains for privacy, and bookshelves. We are intending to buy as much as we can second-hand. B only has a small pension to manage on and has no spare funds. She has recently had a severe brain injury, leaving her with memory and health issues, so help to furnish her new home would be much appreciated.

Total needed £150This client is a lone parent with three children under the age of ten. Mum became homeless when her relationship broke down and she was told to leave the property. She has spent the past two years sofa surfing, which has been very unsettling for her and the children. This client has now been offered an unfurnished tenancy. She is in receipt of Universal Credit and Child Benefit so cannot afford to meet the cost of setting up her new home. Your help with the cost of a cooker would be most appreciated.

Total needed £200This lady suffers with anxiety and depression and has been poorly with pneumonia, a result of living in a very damp home. She has been moved to a new home, but has used all her money to purchase pre-loved furniture and white goods, due to everything she owned being fusty. This lady is sleeping on a very old mattress with springs poking through. She is on Universal Credit and Employment and Support Allowance, as she cannot work, due to poor health. Please can you help this lady? Thank you

Total needed £150L is a parent to two girls, aged two and six years old. They live in a council flat where their washing machine recently broke down and they do not have enough money to replace it. Their main income of Universal Credit and Child Benefit, is taken up with the day-to-day cost of living and does not leave enough for such an expense. The machine cannot be repaired at a reasonable cost. Neighbours have kindly been helping with laundry, but this can’t go on for much longer. A replacement washing machine would be a huge help.

Total needed £175We are working with a new single mum of a two year old who has just moved to her first own home, which is council owned. There is already a huge issue with rats which the neighbours have told her is pre-existing. The council have said they will only address this issue if she pays £110, which she doesn't have, having already had to pay out a lot just to set up her own home, having owned nothing of her own previously. Mum doesn't feel her daughter is currently safe, and is really distressed.

Total needed £110Our client and her partner were both fully employed until recently. Due to illness, they are both now on benefits which has created a sudden loss of income. Our client suffers from fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and her partner suffers from colitis, depression and anxiety. The client has a child who has learning difficulties and who is now home schooled, due to bullying. Their freezer has broken and they would like to replace it, however, due to their limited finances, they are unable to do so.
